With life in this fast paced world so hurried, its important to slow down occasionally and notice life's details. Students learn how to pay attention to their world and see, then draw, things that are important to them. Anything might strike your fancy: the first tomato of the season or a child's soccer game. Discover different ways of sketching: sighting, contour and quick sketch. Learn basic color theory, watercolor tricks and techniques, and expand ideas to help you get your own journal or theme journal started. Gay and Christina will be demonstrating many drawing and painting techniques while we all gather in interesting and fun locations in town. Come with questions, ideas to share, enthusiasm for creative capturing of your experiences and a little cash if you'd like coffee, treats, etc. Parking passes will be handed out at the first class. In this class students will learn the names of all the tiles and how tiles go together to make a hand, how to choose the hand you want to play, how to be defensive and prevent others from making their hands, and how to play the game according to the rules of the National Mah Jongg League. Maximum of 16 players (4 tables). Co-sponsored with City of Saratoga Recreation. Parking passes, for classes lasting longer than 1 hour, will be passed out at the first class. A $6.50 material fee is payable to instructor at the first class for the Mah Jongg card. Intermediate Mah Jongg will be offered in the fall. READER’S THEATER - PLAYREADING FOR NON-ACTORS You don't have to have professional acting experience to enjoy being part of the readers theater. If you have a favorite play you'd like to revisit and see performed again, or if you'd like to get acquainted with current or classic plays, we invite you to join us at the ‘Readers Theater’. Plays by local playwrights will be considered. Led by theater professional, Megan Davidson, this FREE workshop will help you will renew your interest in how theater plays arrive on the stage and take part in discovering the process of play production. Do you struggle with taking-on or learning about the responsibilities that were once done by your mate? Wed like to invite you to come and talk with others who might share your experience and to develop new kinds of friendships in The 55+ Programs ‘Single Again’ support group.
