金 , 還 得 到 機 會 參 與 Mindcraft15 國 際 設 計 展 。 這 些
經 歷 正 讓 Enrico 和 他 的 作 品 越 來 越 被 全 世 界 所 熟 知 。
即 便 在 設 計 界 獲 得 了 巨 大 的 成 功 ,Enrico 對 於 工
作 的 熱 忱 和 大 膽 創 新 的 精 神 從 未 改 變 。「 每 次 都 是 全

容 自 己 的 設 計 之 路 如 同 一 個 企 業 家 創 業 的 過 程 。「 但

的 自 由 , 做 自 己 , 這 對 我 來 說 非 常 重 要 。 甚 麼 都 是 既

像 所 有 的 成 功 人 士 一 樣 , 平 衡 事 業 和 家 庭 的 關
係 對 Enrico 來 說 也 是 個 挑 戰 , 好 在 這 方 面 他 一 直 做 的

為 了 保 持 作 品 的 高 水 準 和 獨 特 性 ,GamFratesi
工 作 室 的 設 計 都 是 重 質 不 重 量 。 談 起 當 下 的 設 計 趨
勢 ,Enrico 表 示 自 己 可 不 是 這 方 面 的 行 家 。「 我 們 嘗
試 從 不 去 關 注 甚 麼 趨 勢 , 就 是 通 過 設 計 來 表 達 我 們 的
價 值 觀 和 個 性 。 在 真 實 地 表 達 我 們 自 己 和 工 藝 、 真 材
實 料 、 簡 潔 之 間 取 得 平 衡 是 非 常 重 要 的 。 最 終 , 這 些
都 會 關 乎 生 產 線 終 端 的 用 戶 的 生 活 。」
「 每 次 我 們 獲 得 一 個 獎 項 , 都 感 到 很 榮 幸 。 這 讓
我 們 知 道 自 己 作 品 的 品 質 是 受 到 肯 定 的 , 人 們 會 使 用
它 , 享 受 它 。 這 對 於 我 個 人 來 說 是 最 大 的 獎 勵 。」
對 於 未 來 的 計 劃 ,Enrico 還 是 保 持 了 他 一 貫 的 自 由 做
派 。「 也 許 我 說 不 出 那 具 體 會 是 甚 麼 。 但 可 以 肯 定 的
是 , 我 一 定 會 做 一 些 有 意 思 的 挑 戰 , 拿 出 令 人 意 想 不
到 的 作 品 。」
his free-spirited attitude backed by unconditional
family support. “I was privileged to have a lot of
freedom in what I wanted to do,” he says, recalling
attending a talent fair with his parents when he was
young and their concerns about the challenges of the
competitive design field. “They thought it was complicated.
But now they are proud of what I do; they
see that I’m happy and that is the most important
thing for them, not my position in society.”
Today, GamFratesi may be the pinnacle of contemporary
design, with over thirty awards and nominations
in less than ten years of existence, including
the coveted Elle Decor Best Young Designer award,
a Finn Juhl Prize, and the opportunity to curate
the international Mindcraft15 design exhibition.
Through it all, Fratesi’s sense of adventure and enthusiasm
for his work remain unchanged.
“You have to start from scratch, you have to learn
from your mistakes,” he says of his path as an entrepreneur.
“But on the other hand, you have the freedom
to express yourself and your mentality, to be
yourself, and that’s very important for me. Everything
is interesting and complicated, and I love it
that way.”
One of Fratesi’s daily challenges is juggling career
and family, which for him are happily intertwined. “In
a difficult moment, you can count on someone who
totally understands you,” he says of his professional and
family union with Gam, which he calls “a privilege...”
“And when everything is going well, it’s so beautiful to

enjoy it together, to bring home the joy of your success.”
Nevertheless, he says the task is not always easy. “You
need to find your own balance,” he says, mentioning
they have even explored the theme in their Balance
design exhibition. “There is no recipe.”
To preserve their creations’ one-of-a-kind nature,
GamFratesi limits collaborations and expansion in
favour of a smaller, more personal scale, and a focus
on product rather than distribution numbers. Asking
about design trends, I’m told they’re not on the
radar. “We try to never look at trends, but to express
our values and personality through design. It’s very
important to be honest to ourselves and find the
balance between our philosophy, the craft, honesty
of materials, and simplicity.” According to Fratesi,
their furniture is meant for living, not showrooms;
ultimately, it’s all about the person on the other end
of the production line.

As for the future, Fratesi embraces a vision as unpredictable
as his designs. “I may not be able to say
now what it’ll be, but for sure there’ll be something
unexpected that’ll make an interesting challenge.”
