Christmas at Casa Mia
Like a storybook come to life, Vancouver’s most lavish and legendary mansion gets dressed
up for the holidays and opens its doors to raise money for a local children’s charity.

The circular tearoom provides a warm and cheery place to watch the snow falling
outside. Breakfast chairs are festooned with glittering burlap bows and golden stars.

Casa Mia 原 來 的 裝 飾 細 節 已 是 美 輪 美 奐 , 門 廳
有 高 達 30 英 呎 的 天 花 板 , 精 緻 的 手 工 雕 刻 木 工 裝
飾 , 寬 大 的 拱 形 窗 和 華 麗 的 吊 燈 , 讓 這 幢 大 宅 煥 發
著 歐 式 古 堡 的 氣 息 。Danielle 回 憶 起 她 第 一 次 走 進
這 座 , 由 著 名 建 築 設 計 師 Ross Lort 設 計 的 , 歷 史 悠
久 的 西 班 牙 殖 民 復 興 風 格 宅 邸 時 的 情 景 。「 我 像 是
要 把 它 整 個 存 入 我 的 腦 海 中 , 我 可 以 在 裏 面 探 尋 幾

有 八 十 年 歷 史 的 Casa Mia 位 於 Southwest Marine

積 為 21,000 平 方 英 呎 , 有 8 間 臥 室 ,13 間 浴 室 和 9 個 壁
爐 。 它 的 第 一 位 主 人 是 George Reifel, 一 位 足 以 被 載

If only the mahogany walls and arched halls of
Casa Mia could speak… they’d surely whisper
tales of late-night jazz soirees, socialites sipping
holiday cocktails and the extravagance of a lifestyle
that spared no expense.
“You can just feel the time and the history that
happened right here,” says interior designer Bianca
Zanatta, chairperson for the charity event
Home for the Holidays. Together with interior
designer Danielle Molnar, the design duo dusted
the opulent heritage home with holiday magic
and added it to the annual parade of decorated
homes to benefit Kids Help Phone.
“The details inside Casa Mia are incredible —
ceilings soar 30 feet at the entrance, elaborate
hand-carved woodwork, enormous arched windows
and dramatic chandeliers give the home a
castle-like feel,” says Molnar, reminiscing on her
first encounter inside the historic Spanish Colonial
Revival-style estate, designed by architect
Ross Lort. “I just soaked it all in. I could explore
the house for hours.”
With its eight bedrooms, 13 bathrooms, and nine
fireplaces, the 21,000-square-foot Casa Mia remains
