them. AR can provide a timely, useful and inclusive suite of tools to support
such communications. These could include:
• Ecovillage and intentional community development updates,
initiatives, efforts, etc.;
• Interdisciplinary skill sharing;
• Food system and farming practices such as information on organic
crop methods, seasonal performance and results, seed saving and
sharing of abundances;
• Cross-cultural and cross-climate collaborations;
• Farmstead-to-farmstead networking and coordination of
WWOOF’ers (Willing Workers on Organic Farms);
• Tool, technology and knowledge sharing, training and educational
opportunities, etc.
I hope that I have been able to convey a few of the many possibilities of

Dr. Jonathan Scherch is a member of the Western Washington DX Club (WWDXC), the West
Seattle Amateur Radio Club (WSARC) and co-Director of Seattle Amateur Radio Training. He
