Political Illusions of the Cajun Mafia

This book examines “robust” political corruption in Calcasieu Parish, Louisiana. The book scrutinizes the transparency, schemes and co-conspirators involved in political corruption. It discusses how top elected officials use their power and public resources funded by local sales and property taxes to improperly target, retaliate and even maliciously prosecute the most ridiculous matters to further their personal agenda. The book examines in detail the types of public infringements involving corruption as well as the vast network of political connections to other various public schemes. The book is further evidence that political corruption in Louisiana is not only profound but more like organized crime controlled by mob bosses. Louisiana no longer will turn a “blind eye” and now demands zero tolerance for corruption and nepotism of elected officials.

From 2008-2009, attorney Christian Chesson was the Fox 29 Legal Expert Correspondent.
Additionally, in 2008, Christian Chesson participated in fund raising for John DeRosier’s campaign. For
Chesson’s efforts he received a Thank You card from DeRosier. It was not long after Chesson’s
participation in DeRosier’s campaign that the interest began in becoming an elected official and assist the
community in criminal justice prosecutions. Furthermore, Chesson had already achieved building a large
law firm that at the time has helped over 30,000 clients in various legal matters. At the time, Chesson did
not know the owner of Fox 29 was the CPDA auditor and largest campaign donor of DeRosier, Chesson
began discussing his interest in the elected position.
Chesson knew all citizens have constitutional rights
to serve as an elected official by the Qualifying
Procedure of the Louisiana Ethics. Chesson had no
knowledge of any “unsaid” requirements in
Calcasieu Parish that seemingly mean you must seek
the endorsement of the incumbent and wait until the
incumbent retires to seek the position.
the Past.” In 2009, Cynthia Killingsworth was employed
CPDA’s office for approximately 17 years. Before working at
the CPDA she was a Medicare fraud prosecutor for the
Louisiana Attorney General’s office. Killingsworth desires to
be elected as the District Attorney after DeRosier steps down.
