Political Illusions of the Cajun Mafia

This book examines “robust” political corruption in Calcasieu Parish, Louisiana. The book scrutinizes the transparency, schemes and co-conspirators involved in political corruption. It discusses how top elected officials use their power and public resources funded by local sales and property taxes to improperly target, retaliate and even maliciously prosecute the most ridiculous matters to further their personal agenda. The book examines in detail the types of public infringements involving corruption as well as the vast network of political connections to other various public schemes. The book is further evidence that political corruption in Louisiana is not only profound but more like organized crime controlled by mob bosses. Louisiana no longer will turn a “blind eye” and now demands zero tolerance for corruption and nepotism of elected officials.

Lynn Jones, Clerk of Court, said that if his office has to research the information internally, it will be an added burden. In
addition, Miller said, the court rules aren’t clear where cases are to be allotted.
Emails showed that after the cases were allotted, a list was sent back to the District Attorney’s Office. Miller said she only
realized that was being done on Wednesday and has instructed that the practice be stopped.
Attorney Jonathan Brown argued that if a person at the District Attorney’s Office is determining which cases are pending,
so too could a person be found at the Clerk of Court’s Office to make the same determination.
“Court rules say no outside influence: That’s what we have here,” Brown argued to Wilson. “We’re not asking you to
change the local rules; we’re asking you to enforce them.”
Prosecutor Carla Sigler said that the District Attorney’s Office has the most information — rap sheets, prior felonies and
pending felonies — which is why the information is provided. If the information is not provided, the system will grind to a
halt, she said.
“Zero evidence” has been provided that the District Attorney’s Office has tried to manipulate allotments, she said.
“I’ll tell you why it hasn’t been presented: It doesn’t exist,” Sigler said.
