The honorably discharged and disabled Marine
Veteran defendant was sentenced on December 3, 2015. A
public records request was delivered to Sigler and
DeRosier on December 7, 2015 requesting to identify the
number of people that have been accepted into Veteran’s
Court and what steps have been taken toward
implementation in Calcasieu Parish. Governor Bobby
Jindal proposed the Veterans Court Program (Senate Bill
532) and was unanimously approved almost in 2014.
The CPDA vendetta against a Veteran Marine is
further supported by DeRosier’s intentional delay of
Veterans Court implementation until the Defendant’s trial
was completed to ensure that the defendant would not benefit from the State Law. DeRosier announced
that Veterans Court begins in Calcasieu Parish Jan 1, 2016. DeRosier made no mention that the laws
authored by Governor Jindal or that the program is actually a State Law for almost 2 years. DeRosier
choose to instead mislead the public by proclaiming himself “Hometown Hero.”
Only 4 days after the Veteran defendant was
sentenced, DeRosier was featured on the KPLC news
that designated DeRosier as the “Hometown Hero” and
announced the creation of Calcasieu’s Veteran’s Court.
The Veterans Court announcement stated other Veteran
defendants that have been accused of non-violent crimes
will go into a court with the intensions of helping the
Veteran instead of prosecuting Veterans.
The CPDA announcement of the program just 2 days after receiving the Public Records Request
that forced DeRosier to admit the not only Calcasieu was not compliant with Veterans Court State Law
but that it was intentionally delays to retaliated against the defendant. It is suspiciously reactive in order
to cover up and provide a response to the Public Records Requested.
