Political Illusions of the Cajun Mafia

This book examines “robust” political corruption in Calcasieu Parish, Louisiana. The book scrutinizes the transparency, schemes and co-conspirators involved in political corruption. It discusses how top elected officials use their power and public resources funded by local sales and property taxes to improperly target, retaliate and even maliciously prosecute the most ridiculous matters to further their personal agenda. The book examines in detail the types of public infringements involving corruption as well as the vast network of political connections to other various public schemes. The book is further evidence that political corruption in Louisiana is not only profound but more like organized crime controlled by mob bosses. Louisiana no longer will turn a “blind eye” and now demands zero tolerance for corruption and nepotism of elected officials.

Re: Public Record Request
f
My name is Rob McCorquodale and I serve as the In-House Counsel for the Calcasieu Parish Sherif 's
Office.
I am writing to respond to your requests for records dated December 17, 2015 that we only recently
received.
A public records request is a tool to be used to obtain documents or records of some kind. You seem to
be trying to ask questions as opposed to requesting documents.
Your first question is "please state the percentage of a bail bond that is collected by the Calcasieu Parish
Sheriffs Office". I am not sure I understand your question. If a person posts cash for a bond, then the
full amount of that bond is collected and held by the CPSO until the subjects court appearance obligation
has been met. Once the obligation has been met, when the charges are closed out, the bond funds are
returned 100% to the party who posted them.
Your second question is a request that we provide you copies of statutes related to "bond collecting" and
"bond distributing". I am not sure what you mean and it is not our place to give legal advice or provide
legal research, but L.R.S. 15:571.11 and L.R.S. 15:86.1 might be responsive to your request.
Finally, you ask for a document that states the bond fund distribution in Calcasieu Parish. Again, I am not
sure that I understand your request, but bond funds are handled in Calcasieu as required by law. The
pertinent laws have been listed herein and I note that you referenced L.R.S. 15:571.11 in your request
which is another pertinent statute.
Sincerely,
:c ---
