Work Placement Work placements are always individually negotiated and all host employers are required to sign an agreement between themselves, the student and APTC, outlining the rights and responsibilities of all parties. Well negotiated placements along with regular visits by trainers have established strong and positive relationships with all host employers. APTC staff across the Pacific meet regularly with representatives of major hotels and restaurants, childcare centres, aged care and community services facilities. Additionally, a range of government and non-government agencies have hosted students on placement. As a result of their work placement, students are occasionally offered full or part-time positions at the host employer’s establishment. Learner Support The Learning Support Facilitators (LSF) provide one-on-one support to those students identified through the 3-6-9 feedback mechanism to assist them with their learning. The 3-6-9 program is designed to identify at-risk students and intervene with the most appropriate support at the 3, 6 and 9 weeks marks of the semester. Pastoral care is one of the strategies which may be recommended to support the student. These sessions are conducted on a case by case basis to meet individual learning needs. Student counselling in all APTC campuses is provided for individual students and staff on a caseby-case basis or for groups in the case of a significant event. Business Development Commercial training opportunities have continued strongly in 2016, funded largely through governments and donors. APTC’s reputation as a quality provider of training has resulted in unsolicited requests for proposals. FFS Activity 2016 FFS activity year-to-date is shown in the table below. There have been a number of proposals submitted, with a good level of take up by clients. Fee Paying Places Fee paying enrolments are funded through individuals, employers (private and government) and donors, and are recorded as DFAT subsidised fee paying places. There have been 329 fee paying enrolments in 2016, from an enrolment total of 1350.The proportion of all APTC enrolments that are funded through the payment of fees by the individual or their employer is currently twenty-four percent.
