DFAT Contract Progress<br />

Inclusive of claims for vocational training in the Fiji Sugar Belt Region, <strong>APTC</strong> has claimed AU$186.2<br />

million as at 31 December <strong>2016</strong>, consisting of AU$182.7 million for the DFAT core contract <strong>and</strong><br />

AU$3.5 million for the Fiji EU project.<br />

It is estimated that <strong>APTC</strong> will claim AU$33.0 million in the <strong>2016</strong>/17 financial year - AU$30.5 million<br />

as DFAT core contract <strong>and</strong> AU$2.5 million for the Fiji EU project. The claim is lower than last year<br />

reflecting the advance claims in 2015/16 initially forecasted in <strong>2016</strong>/17.<br />

Priority planning <strong>and</strong> partnership investment activity<br />

During <strong>2016</strong>/17, a significant investment has been scheduled for priority planning projects in all<br />

campus locations. Key investment priorities for <strong>2016</strong>/17 include:<br />

› Undertaking vocational training quality reviews in consultation with our training partners<br />

› Fee waivers for nominated training partner staff to undertake training in the Certificate IV in<br />

Leadership <strong>and</strong> Management, Certificate IV in Training Assessment <strong>and</strong> enrolment into<br />

<strong>APTC</strong> vocational training courses<br />

› Facility upgrades at the following campuses:<br />

Fiji<br />

› Major capital refurbishment program to establish, in partnership with Fiji National University,<br />

a Centre for Renewable Energy as well as delivery of Certificate II courses for refrigeration<br />

<strong>and</strong> air-conditioning, <strong>and</strong> electrotechnology<br />

› Upgrade of facilities in Walu Bay to exp<strong>and</strong> training facilities <strong>and</strong> improve safety<br />

› Equipment to support the delivery of the Certificate III in Patisserie with additional equipment<br />

distributed in other campus locations to support the delivery of patisserie units within the<br />

Certificate III in Commercial Cookery<br />

› Extension of training facilities to deliver the Certificate III in Individual Support in Labasa<br />

Solomon Isl<strong>and</strong>s<br />

› Establish facilities to deliver the Certificate II in Hospitality at Don Bosco Solomon Isl<strong>and</strong>s in<br />

partnership with DFAT Solomon Isl<strong>and</strong>s<br />

› The expansion of the Don Bosco trade centre In partnership with the S4EG project<br />

› Relocation <strong>and</strong> expansion of the campus office to support the exp<strong>and</strong>ed training <strong>and</strong><br />

investment profile for Solomon Isl<strong>and</strong>s<br />
