As part of in-country activities, the <strong>APTC</strong> Executive Management Team met with government <strong>and</strong><br />

Nationalisation of <strong>APTC</strong> staff<br />
Nationalisation of <strong>APTC</strong> management positions has progressed with the following positions now<br />
occupied by Pacific Isl<strong>and</strong> citizens:<br />
› Manager Promotion <strong>and</strong> Communication (Regional Head Office (RHO), Suva))<br />
› Manager ICT (RHO, Suva)<br />
› Manager Property <strong>and</strong> Facilities (RHO, Suva)<br />
› Manager Operations (Suva Campus)<br />
› Assistant Manager Data, Analysis <strong>and</strong> Performance (RHO, Suva)<br />
› Assistant Manager ICT (RHO, Suva)<br />
› Assistant Manager Human Resources (RHO Suva)<br />
An Emerging Leaders program to support the development of national managers <strong>and</strong> supervisors<br />
was initiated in <strong>2016</strong>, with five staff graduating with a Certificate IV in Leadership <strong>and</strong> Management<br />
to date. <strong>APTC</strong> staff <strong>and</strong> DFAT enrolees were released from duties at regular intervals to attend<br />
training sessions, <strong>and</strong> completed work-based activities <strong>and</strong> projects as part of their assessments.<br />
International Vocational Education <strong>and</strong> Training Association (IVETA)<br />
IVETA is a network of vocational educators which includes TVET organisations, business <strong>and</strong><br />
industrial firms, <strong>and</strong> other individuals <strong>and</strong> groups interested or involved in vocational education <strong>and</strong><br />
training worldwide. IVETA is dedicated to the advancement <strong>and</strong> improvement of high-quality<br />
vocational education <strong>and</strong> training throughout the world.<br />
The organisation held its annual conference in Suva, Fiji in August <strong>2016</strong>. The event was cosponsored<br />
by FNU <strong>and</strong> TAFE Queensl<strong>and</strong>, with approximately 200 delegates from around the world<br />
in attendance. The <strong>APTC</strong> CEO presented a workshop session. All <strong>APTC</strong> training delivery staff based<br />
in Fiji <strong>and</strong> selected management representatives attended the three-day symposium. Staff chose to<br />
attend break-out sessions suited to their area of expertise. The gathering proved to be a valuable<br />
professional development activity for all involved.<br />
