PEOPLE IN MY LIFE<br />

To be the very best that you can be, and then extend again to make your best better, you have to be in a “good place” as<br />

a person. You are a son, daughter, brother, sister, niece, nephew, cousin, grandchild, well before you are a student. Feeling<br />

that you are in the ‘right’ place as a family member and individual is the key to your success as a student.<br />

Therefore, it is essential to understand how you can set up your support TEAM. The various members of your TEAM will<br />

all be able to support your “needs” and “wants”, but the key is knowing which TEAM members are the best for the job; no<br />

one person can do it all.<br />

There are four groups of people always there for you; they are:<br />

• Family and Friends - their role for you is to care, love, share highs and lows and provide the emotional stability that<br />

enables you to know yourself and feel that you matter as a person first and foremost.<br />

• Teachers - their role is to teach you how to learn effectively, how to think critically and creatively and how to study<br />

strategically so that you can get the most out of your education.<br />

• Year Level Advisors/Coordinators/Counsellors - their role is to assist you to overcome issues and situations which<br />

upset you and hinder your progress; you have to play your part and share issues, they can’t read your mind.<br />

• Mentors - their role is to demonstrate positive and appropriate behaviours and share successful strategies and possible<br />

pitfalls.<br />

Reflect on each of the supports in your life and write down how they influence you. Be honest with yourself.<br />
