School and Town Celebrate, Mahone Bay’s 225th Anniversary, May 1979 It was a wonderful weekend with hundreds involved and many more watching. The school hosted a Gala Garden Party and Barbershop Concert. The school band, under the direction of principal Michael O’Connor, played the vice-regal salute for The Governor General, Mr. Schreyer and his wife, welcoming music for Lt. Governor John Shaffner and his wife, and participated in the parades, led the march of some 200 costumed ‘settlers’ from Kedy’s Bridge. Their costumes were designed, and often made, by Nancy Cornish. Events went on all weekend. The school was used for parking and a resource Centre. A concert of Barbershop Groups from all over the province was put on. A fine way to end the 1970s! 197

In 2001, the property sold to Marilyn & Brom Hart who opened a seasonal antiques & collectibles shop - The Eclectic Garage.
