Political influence in relation to the omission
of the Essene Gospel.
Two thousand years ago, a man appeared, inspired by God,
to give us the key to eternal health, to world peace, and beyond
that he promised his followers eternal life.
He described himself as the Prophet, foretold by Moses, to
realize the Divine Plan.
People were enthusiastic, because they had been hoping for
his appearance for hundreds of years and had already chosen
a name for him, "Joshua,” and "the saviour". He encouraged
his followers to form a brotherhood, where equality, liberty,
and brotherhood were lived authentically.
With his doctrine of inner and outer baptism he cured many
diseases, though not through miracle, rather through the
active participation of the sick by fasting and observing the
purity requirements of a natural diet and daily ablutions in
the river. Accepting his message, people began to believe in
themselves again. They realized that each individual, whether
beggar or vagrant, wifes or slave, black or white, was
someone special, like a tiny seed possessing the potential to
develop into a great tree. He compared them to flowers and
said: Who can say that a rose is more beautiful than a lily?
He taught them that the goal of man is to escape from the
slavery of desire to gain true freedom, a freedom that would
be projected outwardly and expel the foreign rulers from
Palestine. He thought it necessary to restore the purity of
their original innocence and to build holy temples of their
Bodies in which, when the time was ripe, the Spirit of God
