Without ever allowing the principal motive to be perceived,<br />
as if it were a counter-response to the sermons of the Essene<br />
Prophet concerning the connections between food, body,<br />
soul <strong>and</strong> spirit, the Apostle Paul teaches the contrary <strong>and</strong><br />
asserts that nourishment has nothing to do with the mind,<br />
<strong>and</strong> adds brazenly that those who eat vegetables are weaklings:<br />
8 But food will not commend us to God. For neither, if we<br />
don’t eat, are we the worse; nor, if we eat, are we the better.<br />
