Appearance of the Prophet
In the year 30 AD, a man arrived in what is now Palestine;
he belonged to the Essene Brotherhood. He described himself
as the Baptist, a messenger of God, and the Prophet,
who had been presaged by Moses to again preach the Divine
Truth.
He described the human body as a temple that was built
stone by stone with much patience. He explained that perfection
can be achieved through purity, leading to eternal life.
Baptism is not a symbolic act as in the New Testament, but
the active cleansing of the earthly body, a cleansing which
led to the cleansing of "sin", and recovery of the sick, no
matter what illness.
In order to bring his contemporaries together, he founded a
brotherhood in which freedom, equality and fraternity -
which are still the fundamental values of the French - were
lived authentically. There was no monetary currency and no
one had possessions. There were no taxes. The brotherhood
did not recognize the Roman emperor as an authority and
did not obey Roman laws. The Baptist abolished slavery and
the women were regarded as equal. He taught vegetarianism
and described the consumption of meat as the greatest sin
that mankind commits against the body. The brotherhood
kept animals, which they regarded as their friends and companions,
exclusively for agriculture work and for their milk.
The society cultivated the earth and lived from the harvest.
The Holy Man revealed to them how the treasures of the
earth could best be used. As a result no one would have to
suffer hunger anymore because there would be enough for
