How are the companies within the sector faring with regards to their
European counterparts?
According to recent studies, micro and small commerce companies in
our country are below the European average in terms of digitalisation and
internationalisation. This is a very worrying scenario considering we are in
an increasingly globalised market and it should be corrected as soon as
possible.
What are the most significant proposals/activities carried out by the
association to promote the activity and development of the companies
in the sector?
As the main representative of local trade in Spain, we at the Spanish Confederation
of Commerce (CEC) actively claim the rights of the sector at all
levels and before all possible interlocutors. By doing so, we are increasing
the visibility of our more than 1,500 associations and establishing new
strategic alliances with social agents and political groups.
How do you assess the CEPYME500 project and its contribution towards
the development of medium-sized Spanish companies?
Any project that aspires to strengthen, make visible and extend the good
work of our SMEs is undoubtedly a great decision. That is why we at the
Confederation welcome the excellent initiative of CEPYME.
