DAY 1 dunham massey
We depart this morning and head to the
Cheshire estate of Dunham Massey.
Dunham is home to one of Britain’s finest
winter gardens, with plenty of scent and
colour to delight the senses throughout
the year. It’s a perfect place for a winter
walk as thousands of bulbs spring to life
in the Garden including snowdrops, irises
and cyclamen. We enjoy time also to visit
the Hall before making our way to the
Mercure Hotel Norton Grange. Take
advantage of the Indoor Pool, Thermal
Suite and Fitness Room. Dinner is
included in the Restaurant this evening.

DAY 2 BAKEWELL/HARDWICK HALL
This morning we enjoy a hearty breakfast
in the Restaurant before heading into the
beautiful landscape of the Peak District
and the market town of Bakewell – Today
is market day. We continue to Hardwick
Hall one of Britain’s greatest Elizabethan
Houses. Bess Hardwick, the fifth daughter
of an impoverished Derbyshire nobleman,
did not have an auspicious start in life.
Widowed at sixteen, she nonetheless
outlived four monarchs, married three
more times, built the great house at
Chatsworth, and died one of the
wealthiest and most powerful women in
English history. Clustered beneath the
bows of yews and lime, the snowdrops at
the great Elizabethan masterpiece
Hardwick Hall practically glow. Enjoy the
snowdrops and a visit to the hall before
we depart late afternoon to return home.
