Delray Beach Public Library with Delray Beach Housing Authority Distribute GrandPads to Seniors The Delray Beach Public Library has partnered with the Delray Beach Housing Authority to distribute 54 GrandPad tablets to seniors at Lake Delray Apartments. A GrandPad is a computer tablet designed especially for seniors 75 and over who have little to no experience with technology. The Internet is built right in and users have easy access to video chat with doctors, friends, and family, as well as many options for entertainment like games, music, local radio stations, news articles, and so much more. The average GrandPad user is 82 years old. The Delray Beach Public Library received a $100,000 grant from the American Rescue Plan for the GranPads and for updating computers so patrons when attending a computer class COPYRIGHTED would have a better learning experience. According to Shirley Erazo, President/CEO of Delray Beach Housing Authority, “These tablets are designed with seniors in mind so they can connect with loved ones without the complicated features of other tablets. This simple tablet is perfect for seniors who are ready to start video chatting and sharing memories with family and friends around the world.” Phyllis Martin, one of the recipients of the GrandPad states, “I haven’t seen my grandson in person and this device lets me laugh and talk with him.
