that’s all part of the show, and as<br />
a photographer you want to capture<br />
artists in their element. If<br />
this had been a rule in the eighties,<br />
we wouldn’t have been able<br />
to obtain many of the iconic images<br />
now cherished by millions<br />
of people globally. During those<br />
years, it was even normal to hang<br />
backstage after hours. The rock<br />
photographer and the rock band<br />
combined into this one chaotic<br />
lifestyle which just worked... it<br />
was really a cool time.”<br />
Although his forte is with musicians,<br />
Larry isn’t limited strictly<br />
to this genre. “I am currently<br />
freelance, but have been working<br />
as the house photographer<br />
at the FLA Live Arena in Sunrise,<br />
Florida for the past three years.<br />
My photos have been used in<br />
Spin, Rolling Stone, Billboard...<br />
I’ve been in pretty much every<br />
big publication at one point or<br />
another. The New York Post also<br />
uses me regularly to shoot sports<br />
and news related images occurring<br />
in South Florida.”<br />
When asked if there was an artist<br />
on his wish list or any aspect of<br />
his career which could have been<br />
executed differently, the answer<br />
was simple.<br />
“I would love to photograph<br />
Bob Dylan... unfortunately he<br />
doesn’t even let you bring a phone<br />
into his sets nowadays. Looking<br />
back, my only regret is that I<br />
should have utilized more film.<br />
If I had known how this line of<br />
work was going to transpire, and<br />
could have foreseen the ability to<br />
scan negatives... I would have shot<br />
more iconic people in their heyday.<br />
All in all, this industry is perfect<br />
for me. I set my own hours,<br />
show up for work wearing a Ramones<br />
t-shirt, and partake in history<br />
on a daily basis. What’s more<br />
rock and roll than that?”<br />
