Ou: Big Job is to Win the
War as Quickly as PotsiU
What have you ilone toilny for Victory?
Can you truthfully smy, *J'm Rivinp
everything I have for the war effort"?
The boys in the service make sacrifices
far nnd above our efforts. Thn men on
the battlefronts must fight until they
drop, but many of us era losing; the battle
on the home front. Whoa V-day comes,
we can all t?o back to our old ways; but
until that time, we must work day anrl
night. Vacation is an opportunity to attend
summer school, to participate in some
vital work, such as harvesting, or to take
a job in a war plant. We must five some
of our time to volunteer work like Civilian
Defense, Red Cross, or A. \V. V. S. Just
think what a Frenchman, or n Norwegian,
or a Czech, or a Chinese would givp to
change plaoe?. with us! If the ivar cal: be
shortened ly one month, imagine the
thousands of human lives thai will be
spared! Perhaps your brother, or boy
frfand will jia saved from a lonely grave
somewhere if only you give your best.
Put every spare "r>-n"y into War Bonds
and Stamps. Hemomber—
This Summer Is Your Chance
To Help In The War Eff-rt
The news of the long summer vacation. June
18-Scptcmbcr 27. has filled our minds with dreams
of luxurious days with nothing to do but He in
the sun. But, wait! Those days arc gone for
tho duration. This summer there are more Important
things to do.
Summer school is a great opportunity for
boys and girls who dejire to specialize in some
field before going Into the service. Then there
are numerous ways in which students may give
their aid this summer and eam high wages at
the same time. Harvesting at camps tinccially
equipped for high school students Is one way.
War plants and factories are also sending urgent
calls to all the schools of the nation. A crisis
his come In the food Industry; and we, the high
school students of America, have tho power to
.;clp our country pass the crisis safely.
After the summer vacation is over, it will be
a privilege to be able to say, "I helped. I am
part of the war effort"
