Wf clcome Newcomers
How, little papooses! Heap big Lowell
wclromcs you! Come right in, new students.
Don't hesitate on the doorstep.
Lowell traditions and customs arc well
known, but don't be afraid you enn't
measure up. The older students were all
once faltering freshmen, too. The golden
reputation nnd unbeatable teams of Lowell
ure things we hold up and cheer with
pride, but don't be too much awed by
them. The things that Lowell stands for
could ??v»r be accomplished without the
whole-heiirtecl enthusiasm of the new
Lowel! students.
Don't hide behind that post or leap
into the shadows whenever a senior
pulses by. Step out and get a good look
at him because some day you will be one.
too, and you ought to sec what he looks
like.
When you hear of the athletic coaches
tufting for husky newcomers to turn out
for Hnorts after school, don't point to the
felltm* behind you and say, "He means
you." Instead, go around after school
nnd find out what it's all about.
In no time nt all you'll find you have
grown from a little papoose to a nice big
Lowell Indian, and there you are, part of
-Lowell 1 * tradition voursolf.
Keep Giving Blood
The wnr is still going on. The emergency
still exists. American men arc still
dying on the battlefields, nnd the Blood
Donor Drive is still going on, too.
The students in our schools have just
had a long vacation. They are about the
only citizens who have had a vacation.
Back in school now, they're living by bells
and routine, but they've had a longer rest
and change from that routine than almost
anyone else is getting. So who else has a
better reason for becoming % voluntary
iccruit for the Red Cross Blood Donor
Drive?
You are young nnd healthy, ready to
start the nchool year with a bang. Remember
that if you can persuade just one
person to give his blood, some soldier's
life won't drain out of him after a different
kind of bang when he faces enemy
guns.
Go to the Red Cross representative in
your registry and ask him for a donor
enrollment card. Then take thirty minutes
of your time after school to Interview
u few neighbors nnd explain to them,
it they dont understand, the importance
of giving a pint of blood.
Bring our quota up Give Lowell n
donor for every student. Last year we
only enrolled 1100 donors. This year let
us reach 1100 ngmn ard top it! Lowell
is out for blood 1 '
-", ;To consider yourself a part of the
/Lowell student;body is something to be
Vai^udiof. To call yourself a part of the
great machine thnt keeps Lowell on top ifl
:• something to. flaunt; something never to
-be^aahnmtH^of: That reason alone is why
every Lowell student should own a student
