QHA REVIEW | 34
The Caxton has indeed found particular notoriety in
recent history with State of Origin matches, providing
fans of the sport with a party atmosphere in the true
Queenslander spirit. The venue is as famous as ever for
being recognised as the place to be on Origin night.
Kath said their hotel is unashamedly very connected to
the local community with sponsorships of local rugby
league, rugby union and touch rugby league teams.
“We are also very proud of our support for the local
music industry, as we feature many multicultural events
such as Seafood Festival, Brazilian Carnival and our
Craft Park Parties.
“The hotel is upgraded regularly in terms of furnishings
and paintings, however to accommodate more
community events we are currently undergoing major
renovations to our number one function area – The
Haunt.
“The carpark is also undergoing extensive refurbishment
as we use this area as a temporary beer Garden on
Suncorp Stadium event days. This area is extremely
popular with all of the football supporters,” she said.
With such a rich history steeped in sporting passion
and grand final celebrations, the hotel will surely be
there for every kick-off in the years to come. Kathy
said the owners are very proud of the legacy that is
The Caxton Hotel, and over the years they have done
nothing but improve its reputation as Queensland’s
leading sports hotel.
“This is all the more incredible when you consider that
the two brothers are always 100% correct, yet never
agree on anything. The Farquhars very much appreciate
the wonderful contribution made by their incredible
staff,” she said.
