30 YEARS OF CELEBRATING THE BEST IN THE BUSINESS
The night of nights for our industry was again another
spectacular event – congratulations to all award
winners at the 2023 QHA Awards For Excellence
Gala held in June at the Brisbane Convention and
Exhibition Centre. Over 1400 guests were on hand to
celebrate the successes of their industry counterparts
throughout the night. All category winners now
progress to the AHA National Awards. We wish them
every success as they vie to be crowned best in the
country.
Wide Bay - Burnett Region Hoteliers Lunch
Railway Hotel Bundaberg
On Tuesday 13 June the QHA held the Wide Bay –
Burnett Hoteliers Lunch for publicans from around
the region at the Railway Hotel Bundaberg. The event
featured presentations from a range of QHA corporate
partners and QHA representatives. Thank you to the
hoteliers and their key staff who were able to take time
out of their businesses to attend the lunch. A huge
thank you to PFD Food Services for again generously
providing the delicious lunch for all attendees –
showcasing their recently launched ARLO beef and
their renowned Humpty Doo barramundi. And thankyou
to Pato and the team at the Railway Hotel for
hosting the lunch meeting.
Pubs, Pots and Profits – Emerald
Tuesday 11 July
CUB together with the QHA will again be hosting the
Pubs, Pots & Profits forum for hoteliers and key staff
from around the Emerald region. The forum will feature
presentations from leading experts in the industry,
focusing on business development initiatives for your
hotel. The event will be held at Emerald Maraboon
Tavern on Tuesday 11 July from 2pm to 5pm. Canapes
and networking drinks will be included, thanks to
CUB. To register attendance for this free event simply
contact the QHA.
QHA Regional Board Meeting – Hervey Bay
Save the Date
The tradition of the QHA Regional Board Meeting
continues and this year Hervey Bay is the chosen
destination. The meeting will be held on Monday 31
July. Detailed invitations will be sent via post and email
to hoteliers in the region.
Apply to remove a licence condition
Hoteliers are reminded that they have the ability to
apply to OLGR to remove a current licence condition
which may be outdated and disproportionately
unfavourable to your venue compared to similar
venues in your region.
The application is Form 19 and does attract an
application fee, however the benefits of removing
restrictive conditions which may be inhibiting trade or
incurring unnecessary expenses would likely outweigh
the application fee. If you would like to review your
conditions and need assistance with the application
process please contact the QHA.
Annual Liquor License Fees
A simple courtesy reminder that annual liquor license
fees are due and payable by 31 July. Don’t be one of
the venues caught with unlicensed trade on or after
1 August. The fines are significant and OLGR are
unsympathetic to any excuse. If you have financial
hardship there are payment options available to you.
