local investors, empowering them to
identify and nurture promising tech
ventures.
As would be expected, his
commitment to tech extends
beyond just investments. In
1999, he co-founded
TechnoVision, a
technology advisory
and solutions
company that
caters to both
private and publicsector
clients
across its offices in
London and Lagos.
This company
provides a
vital service,
making sure
businesses and
organisations
have access to
the guidance
and support they
need to thrive
in the everchanging
tech
landscape.
In 2009, Davies
took on the
role of CEO at
TechnoVision,
demonstrating
his leadership
abilities and
commitment
to the company's
mission. Additionally, he
played a pivotal role in
reviving Mobitel, a mobile
telecommunications
company, serving as its
Chief Operating Officer
from 2010 to 2012.
Davies' entrepreneurial spirit
shines through in his involvement
with SupaStrikas, a fantasy
football league comic book, which
after doing well in Africa, was first
acquired by Moonbug and is now
the property of Disney. Davies
has also invested in and helped
develop the business model of
Sproxil Nigeria. He served as the
company's first managing director
and remains a shareholder.
In addition to his corporate
endeavours, Davies is deeply
committed to philanthropy
and social impact. He co-founded
Laptop4Learning, an initiative
aimed at providing screen-based
technology to under-privileged
primary school children and
teachers in Nigeria. Through this
initiative, Davies has championed
digital inclusion and educational
equity, empowering the next
generation with the tools they need
to succeed in an increasingly digital
world.
Davies' dedication to his work hasn't
gone unnoticed. He has received
numerous awards, including
the Icon of Hope at the Comic
Panel Hero Award 2014 and the
Distinguished SME Partner Award
by Fidelity Bank Nigeria. He's also
been recognised as an Information
Technology Champion by the
Institute of Software Practitioners of
Nigeria (ISPON) and even named
one of the "100 Most Influential
Africans of 2021" by New African
Magazine.
Tomi Davies' story is one of
innovation, dedication, and a
deep-seated belief in the power of
technology to transform lives. He's a
bridge builder, connecting investors,
entrepreneurs, and communities
across Africa, and his work is paving
the way for a brighter future fuelled
by technology and the continent's
own talent and potential.
