for Suspending Ningi
Over Budget Padding
Controversy
The Arewa Consultative Forum, a
pan-northern socio-political body,
criticised Senator Abdul Ningi's
suspension on Saturday, March 16
due to the Senate's purported N3.7
trillion budget padding for 2024.
The accusation that led to Ningi's
three-month suspension was
made by him during an interview,
which the Senate later determined
to be baseless.
The pan-northern organisation
expressed sadness, nevertheless,
and stated that the Red Chamber
ought to have permitted an
impartial inquiry into the situation
rather than suspending the
senator who represents Bauchi
North.
In a statement released in
Kaduna, the ACF, represented
by Prof. Tukur-Baba, its National
Publicity Secretary, claimed that
the procedure that led to Ningi's
suspension was hurried and
focused more on the messenger
than the message.

The Governor of Benue State, Rev.
Fr. Hyacinth Alia, has been urged
by the Peoples Democratic Party
to account for the N44 billion in
special intervention funding that
he received from the Federal
Government between August
2023 and 2024.
Through its State Publicity
Secretary, Bemgba Iortyom,
the opposition party in the
state made the call in response
to the submission made by
Senator Tilley Gyado, the leader
of the All Progressive Congress
in the state, detailing that the
state had received N44 billion
in intervention funds over the
previous nine months.
