It's April! A confirmation that we're in
the second quarter of 2024! Have you
done your own Q1 self appraisal? It
could determine what and how you do
things for the rest of the year.
While you ponder on that, we're
pleased to present Harry Olatomi
Davies, more popularly known as 'Tomi
Davies (TD), the influential and versatile
'Africa's Top Angel' who's working
assiduously with other investor-angels
to maximise the capacity of young,
innovative African entrepreneurs in
order to change the decades' long
narrative of Africa's ultra-dependence
on foreign aid, products and services.
'Tomi Davies and his colleague angelinvestors
are ensuring that start-ups
aren't bugged down by financial and
structural constraints.
In another breath, the lessons TD
learnt from his late father, Chief H. O.
Davies, a pre-Independence nationalist,
stand out as key points of our chat with
him. You have to read it up!
Still on the subject of giving fillip
to youth empowerment, we got Dr.
Peter Ogudoro for this edition's "CEO
Interview". For over three decades,
Ogudoro has engaged in robust
advocacy to replace rote-learning
with open-minded, cutting edge,
democratised education. His story
shows that whether one is born with a
silver spoon in one's mouth or not, good
success is possible with revolutionised
teaching methodologies from the
primary level and onwards.
As always, we have objective
analysis of how policies of government
and global or national developments
affect us. One of such is the manner
of unprecedented economic malaise
wheeled-in by the last administration
in Nigeria. It is captured in Dr. Chido
Nwangwu's "Buhari, Tinubu and Nigeria’s
Money". You should read it.
Dave Baro-Thomas asks relevant
questions in "Parliamentary System
or Restructuring: A Country at Self-
Inflicted Crossroad" just as Chief
Victor Olenwunne's "Military Ethics and
Nigerian Citizens" does.
Dr. Harry Choms, our Contributing
Editor, and Senior Correspondents -
Damian Ikenna Ngere, Adebayo Afolabi
and Tolu Akinruli - have various pieces
you want to explore. Let's get going!
