Connecting With Samsung Kies<br />

1. Install Samsung Kies software on your PC.<br />
Warning!: Close any running applications before connecting your device to a<br />
PC.<br />
2. From a Home screen, tap (Apps) ➔ (Settings)<br />
➔ Applications ➔ Development ➔ USB debugging.<br />
Make sure this setting is not checked. If this option is<br />
checked, Samsung Kies will not function properly.<br />
3. Using an optional PC data cable, connect the multifunction<br />
jack on your device to a PC.<br />
Note: PC connection is only available in idle mode. Tap (Home Key), if<br />
necessary.<br />
4. Run Samsung Kies and follow the prompts to update your<br />
device firmware.<br />
5. Refer to Samsung Kies Help for more information.<br />
Tethering<br />
This option allows you to share your device’s mobile data<br />
connection via a direct USB connection between your device and<br />
computer. A wireless version of this same functionality would be<br />
the <strong>Mobile</strong> AP feature.<br />
Note: If additional software or USB drivers are required, navigate to:<br />
http://www.samsung.com/us/support/downloads.<br />
1. From a Home screen, tap (Apps) ➔ (Settings)<br />
➔ Wireless and networks ➔ Tethering and portable hotspot.<br />
2. Plug in the USB cable between your computer and your<br />
device.<br />
3. When prompted for a USB mode, tap<br />
menu.<br />
to exit the<br />
4. Tap USB tethering from the Tethering menu. This places a<br />
green check mark next to the entry and activates the<br />
feature. A Tethering or Hotspot active notification briefly<br />
appears on the screen.<br />
Look for the Tethering active icon<br />
area of the screen.<br />
