Capital reserve of the Company represents surplus arising from revaluation of land and buildings. (b) Translation reserve Translation reserve of the Group represents foreign exchange differences arising from the translation of the fi nancial statements of foreign subsidiaries and associates whose functional currencies are different from that of the Group’s presentation currency. (c) Statutory reserve Statutory reserve of the Group are maintained by the investment banking subsidiary of an associate in compliance with Section 36 of the Banking and Financial Institutions Act, 1989 and are not distributable as dividends. (d) Fair value reserve Fair value reserve comprises the cumulative fair value changes, net of tax, of available-for-sale fi nancial assets of an associate until they are disposed off or impaired. (e) Employees’ share option reserve Notes to the Financial Statements For the fi nancial year ended 31 December 2011 Employees’ share option reserve represents the equity-settled share options granted to employees (Note 38). The reserve is made up of the cumulative value of services received from employees recorded over the vesting period commencing from the grant date of equity-settled share options, and is reduced by the expiry or exercise of the share options.
