“liberation spirituality” 59 <strong>and</strong> “fem<strong>in</strong>ist spirituality” 60 ). Yet, if the<br />
theological diversity with<strong>in</strong> the <strong>Old</strong> <strong>Testament</strong> were mastered to a<br />
greater extent, these would both enrich the different spiritualities<br />
prom<strong>in</strong>ent <strong>in</strong> our time <strong>and</strong>, because of a greater sense of shared<br />
heritage <strong>and</strong> identity, enhance the possibilities of communication<br />
between these contemporary traditions.<br />
2.9 OT : NT = law : grace<br />
Often <strong>in</strong> the churches <strong>and</strong> among their members the relationship<br />
between the <strong>Old</strong> <strong>Testament</strong> <strong>and</strong> the New is still seen as one of law<br />
<strong>in</strong> opposition to grace (alternatively, as promise versus<br />
fulfilment 61 ). A strong tendency thus rema<strong>in</strong>s to equate the <strong>Old</strong><br />
<strong>Testament</strong> with “law,” as opposed to the New <strong>Testament</strong><br />
conta<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g “grace” that, <strong>in</strong> Paul<strong>in</strong>e language, frees us from the<br />
