CAREER<br />

2009—Batted .270 with nine home runs and 91 RBI in 124 games for the Texas League Champion Midland<br />

RockHounds…added 80 walks for a .379 on-base percentage…ranked second in the Texas League<br />

in doubles (37), tied for third in walks and fifth in RBI…was second in the A’s farm system in walks,<br />

third in doubles, tied for third in RBI, seventh in on-base percentage, eighth in extra base hits (47), ninth<br />

in total bases (189) and 10th in hits (123)…was named to the Texas League Midseason All-Star team…<br />

hit .288 with four home runs in 132 at bats against left-handed pitching and .263 with five home runs<br />

in 323 at bats against right-handers…his average improved to .340 with runners in scoring position…<br />

appeared in 102 games at catcher, 15 at third base and four at first base…led TL catchers in total chances<br />

(741), assists (80), errors (16) and passed balls (17) and tied for the lead in games caught…tossed out 38<br />

of 96 (39.6%) attempted base stealers, which was second best in the TL…got off to a slow start, batting<br />

.167 over his first 12 games and .227 overall for the month of April…then hit .340 with 12 doubles, four<br />

home runs, 22 RBI and 20 runs scored in 26 games in May, all his best one-month figures in 2009…had<br />

a season high four RBI May 11 against Frisco…went 4 for 6 with two doubles, a home run and a walk<br />

May 30 at Tulsa, his lone four-hit game of the season…that boosted his average to a season high .295 but<br />

he would go on to hit .217 in June…was hitless in six consecutive games from June 6 to 12 (0 for 19)…<br />

played for the South squad in the Texas League All-Star Game July 1 at Frisco and went 1 for 2 with a<br />

run scored…matched his season high with four RBI July 22 against Corpus Christi…finished July with<br />

a .288 batting average but added 26 walks in 24 games for a .462 on-base percentage…batted .250 (8<br />

for 32) with two doubles, three home runs, six RBI, five walks and five runs scored in eight postseason<br />

games for Midland.<br />

2008—Began the season at Single-A Peoria in the Chicago Cubs organization but was traded to <strong>Oakland</strong><br />

July 8 in the Rich Harden deal and finished the year at Single-A Stockton…hit .217 with six home runs<br />

and 23 RBI in 63 games at Peoria but then went on to bat .330 with nine home runs and 39 RBI in 47<br />

games with Stockton…combined for a .267 batting average, 15 home runs and 62 RBI in 110 games<br />

overall…batted .297 against left-handed pitching and .258 against right-handers…hit .197 with runners<br />

in scoring position at Peoria and .355 at Stockton…appeared in 94 games at catcher and tossed out 41<br />

of 112 (36.6%) attempted base stealers…also appeared in three games at third base and two at first<br />

base, all with Stockton…was hitting .198 as late as June 5…then went 18 for 68 (.265) over his final<br />

18 games with Peoria…was traded with pitcher Sean Gallagher, infielder Eric Patterson and outfielder<br />

Matt Murton to the <strong>Oakland</strong> A’s for pitchers Rich Harden and Chad Gaudin, July 8…was assigned to<br />

Single-A Stockton…reached base safely via hit or walk in each of his first 34 games with the Ports…hit<br />

.374 with 15 walks (.446 on-base percentage) over that stretch from July 10 to Aug. 17…reached safely<br />

in 43 of 47 games overall with Stockton…had a grand slam July 13 against San Jose…had a season best<br />

seven-game hitting streak from July 25 to Aug. 2…hit .452 with 11 runs scored, three doubles, two home<br />

runs and 13 RBI during the streak…had back-to-back games with three hits and four RBI July 29 and<br />

30 at Modesto…batted .413 (19 for 46) with four doubles, a triple, four home runs, eight RBI, nine runs<br />

scored and 10 walks (.518 on-base percentage) in 12 postseason games to lead Stockton to the California<br />

League Championship…then played for Arizona Fall League Champion Phoenix Desert Dogs and batted<br />

.288 with four home runs and 21 RBI in 29 games…appeared exclusively at first base on defense (27<br />

games)…went 3 for 5 with a home run and four RBI in the AFL Championship Game.<br />

2007—Made his professional debut and combined to bat .335 in 53 games for the Cubs affiliate in<br />

the Arizona Rookie League and Single-A Boise…named a Short-Season All-Star by Baseball America<br />

after ranking third among all Short-Season leagues in on-base percentage (.460) and ninth in slugging<br />

percentage (.590)…led the Northwest League in on-base percentage (.470)…topped NL catchers with<br />

a .990 fielding percentage and tied for the lead with five double plays…tossed out 23 of 58 (39.7%)<br />

attempted base stealers, which ranked second best in the league…began his professional career in the<br />

Arizona Rookie League before he was transferred to Boise July 2…batted .452 against left-handed<br />

pitching and .321 against right-handers…hit .358 with runners in scoring position….was named the<br />

seventh best Cubs prospect by Baseball America following the season.<br />
