homered in each of his first two games, including the first pitch he saw, after being promoted to Las<br />

Vegas June 12…suffered a slight tear of the labrum in his left shoulder after making a diving stop June<br />

15 (had successful surgery to repair the labrum in October)…hit .421 (16-for-38) while hitting safely in<br />

10 straight games from July 18-28.<br />

2005—Began the year ranked as Los Angeles’ fifth-best prospect according to Baseball America…was<br />

named the Branch Rickey Minor League Player-of-the-Year after leading all Dodgers farmhands in<br />

home runs, RBI and total bases (263)…hit a combined .305 with 30 home runs and 94 RBI in 127 games<br />

between Single-A Vero Beach and Jacksonville…was named Los Angeles’ Minor League Player-of-the-<br />

Month honors in April and May…took home Florida State League Player-of-the-Week honors for the<br />

week of April 18-24…had three multi-homer games while playing with Vero Beach…was named to the<br />

Florida State League Midseason and Postseason All-Star teams despite playing in just 63 games…was<br />

a Topps Single-A All-Star…was also tabbed by Baseball America as the “Best Hitting Prospect” and<br />

“Best Power Prospect” in the FSL…went 2-for-2 in the All-Star Futures Game as part of All-Star festivities<br />

at Comerica Park in Detroit…hit .353 with 15 RBI and a .393 on-base percentage while playing for<br />

the Phoenix Desert Dogs in the Arizona Fall League.<br />

2004—Split the season between Single-A Columbus and Vero Beach…was ranked by Baseball America<br />

as Los Angeles’ eighth-best prospect…was also rated by the same publication as having the “Best Infield<br />

Arm” among Dodgers farmhands…hit .373 in 18 games in June before being promoted to Vero Beach<br />

June 19…was named the Florida State League Player-of-the-Week for the week of July 26-Aug. 1 after<br />

batting .346 with three doubles, three home runs and 13 RBI in six games.<br />

2003—Hit .326 with six home runs and 18 RBI in 25 games for Wareham in the Cape Cod League<br />

before signing with the Dodgers…served as the designated hitter in six games for Rookie Level Ogden<br />

while recovering from a broken leg suffered while playing in the Cape Cod League.<br />

PERSOnAL/MiSCELLAnEOUS<br />

Andrew Christian LaRoche…is a 2001 graduate of Fort Scott (KS) High School…attended Grayson<br />

County Community College and was slated to attend Rice University before signing with the Dodgers…played<br />

with his older brother Adam for the Pirates in 2008-09, becoming the eighth set of brothers<br />

to play as teammates for the Bucs and the first since Eddie and Johnny O’Brien in 1958…his father,<br />

Dave, pitched for 14 seasons (1970-83) with five different teams (Angels, Twins, Cubs, Indians and<br />

Yankees)…captured a gold medal while playing for Team USA in the IBAF World Cup in Taiwan following<br />

the 2007 season…went 2-for-5 in the Gold Medal game against Cuba and hit .333 with three<br />

home runs and 10 RBI in the tournament…invited children with down syndrome to PNC Park for a VIP<br />

treatment during the 2009 season; guests got one-on-one time with Andy, watched batting practice from<br />

the Pirates dugout, met Andy’s teammates and received autographs and memorabilia…also participated<br />

in the Pirates & Dick’s Sporting Goods “Gloves for Kids” Event in 2009 – an initiative to provide local<br />

youth baseball/softball organizations with much needed baseball gloves and equipment.<br />
