CAREER HiGHLiGHTS<br />

The Dominican Republic native signed with the A’s three days before his 18th birthday and has a 25-27<br />

record and a 3.96 ERA (207 er in 470.1 ip) in 114 games, 76 starts, in seven professional seasons…has<br />

407 strikeouts and 193 walks in 470.1 innings…has yielded just 28 home runs, or one per 16.8 innings…<br />

pitched for short-season teams his first five seasons before combining for a 13-6 record and a 3.38 ERA<br />

in 27 starts with Single-A Stockton and Kane County in 2009 to earn A’s Organizational Pitcher of the<br />

Year honors…tied for the Northwest League lead in strikeouts (77) at Vancouver in 2008.<br />

2010 HiGHLiGHTS<br />

Made his Double-A debut with Midland and went 1-6 with a 5.30 ERA in 13 starts before an elbow injury<br />

ended his season in mid-June…matched his career-high in losses…was also charged with a career-high<br />

five balks, which led the Texas League…opponents hit .295, including .196 (18 for 92) by left-handed<br />

hitters and .342 (66 for 193) by right-handers…yielded five of his six home runs to righties…five of the<br />

home runs he surrendered were solo shots…allowed a .350 average with runners in scoring position and<br />

two outs…was 0-4 with a 6.57 ERA in seven starts at home and 1-2 with a 3.93 ERA in six starts on the<br />

road…posted a 3.27 ERA in four starts in April but then had a 6.00 ERA in six starts in May and a 6.61<br />

ERA in three starts in June…compiled a 7.62 ERA and .333 opponents batting average in the first inning…did<br />

not commit an error in 26 total chances in his 13 starts, including five putouts and 21 assists…<br />

the Rockhounds were 5-8 (.385) in his starting assignments…tossed six or more innings in seven of his<br />

13 starts, allowed two runs or fewer six times and walked two batters or fewer eight times.<br />

MiDLAnD: Went 1-1 with a 2.78 ERA and .231 opponents batting average over his first six starts<br />

through May 7…allowed just one run in 6.0 innings in back-to-back starts April 16 and 22 but had a loss<br />

and a no decision in those two outings…his lone win came May 2 at San Antonio when he struck out a<br />

season-high seven in a season-high 7.2 innings…also tossed a season high 104 pitches in that game…<br />

charged with his second loss of the season May 13 against San Antonio, which began a season-ending<br />

five-game losing streak…posted a 7.82 ERA and allowed a .351 batting average over that seven-start<br />

stretch…yielded a season-high seven runs in 3.1 innings in an 8-4 loss to Frisco May 18…walked a<br />

season-high five batters in 4.0 innings, May 23 at Corpus Christi…allowed a season high 10 hits in 4.2<br />

innings against Corpus Christi, June 10…was placed on the disabled list June 16 with a left elbow strain<br />

and missed the remainder of the season.<br />

CAREER<br />

2009—Was named the A’s Organizational Pitcher of the Year after combining for a 13-6 record and a<br />

3.38 ERA in 27 starts with both of the A’s Single-A affiliates…began the season at Kane County of the<br />

Midwest League and went 10-2 with a 3.23 ERA in 16 starts before he was promoted to Stockton of the<br />

California League July 10…posted a 3-4 record and a 3.56 ERA in 11 starts with the Ports…tied for seventh<br />

among all Single-A pitchers in wins and walks (66)…ranked second in the A’s organization in wins,<br />

third in strikeouts (145), tied for third in innings pitched (152.0) and fourth in ERA…allowed a .260<br />

opponents batting average, including .256 against right-handed hitters and .271 against left-handers…<br />

opponents hit .220 with runners in scoring position…yielded nine home runs in 152.0 innings (0.53 per<br />

nine innings) and eight of those were solo shots…combined for a 7-2 record and a 1.99 ERA in 11 starts<br />

in his home ballparks and was 6-4 with a 4.50 ERA in 16 starts on the road…his teams were 18-9 (.667)<br />

in his starting assignments…tossed six or more innings in 16 of his 27 starts, allowed two runs or fewer<br />

18 times and walked two batters 17 times…led Kane County in wins despite his promotion to Stockton<br />
