2008—Began the season with Double-A Reading in the Philadelphia organization but finished it in<br />

the starting rotation for <strong>Oakland</strong>…was selected by the A’s following the conclusion of Triple-A Sacramento’s<br />

regular season Sept. 2 and went 1-2 with a 4.56 ERA in six games, four starts…his first two<br />

appearances with the A’s came in relief (6.23 ERA) but his final four outings were starts and he was 1-2<br />

with a 4.22 ERA in his starting assignments…did not allow a home run in 21.1 innings as a starter…<br />

his .327 opponents batting average broke down to .217 against left-handed hitters and .358 against<br />

right-handers…opponents batted .380 with the bases empty and .182 with runners in scoring position…<br />

yielded a .387 batting average over his first 60 pitches in a game and .172 after that…made his Major<br />

League debut in relief Sept. 2 at Kansas City and pitched 2.0 scoreless innings (2 h, 2 so)…struck out the<br />

first batter he faced, Mark Teahen…picked up his first ML win in his first start Sept. 13 against Texas, a<br />

7-1 A’s victory…allowed just one run on four hits and two walks in 5.0 innings…his first loss came in<br />

start number two Sept. 18 against Los Angeles…combined for a 7-4 record, one save and a 3.11 ERA<br />

in 42 games, 11 starts, with Reading, Double-A Midland and Sacramento…allowed a .244 opponents<br />

batting average, which included a .202 mark against left-handed hitters and .260 against right-handers…<br />

opponents hit .221 with runners in scoring position…yielded just five home runs in 98.1 innings, or<br />

one per 0.46 per nine innings…was 3-2 with a 3.21 ERA in his 11 starting assignments and 4-2 with a<br />

3.02 ERA in 31 relief appearances…was 5-4 with a save and a 3.20 ERA in 33 games, five starts, with<br />

Reading…went 1-2 with a 3.16 ERA in his five starts…his lone win as a starter came in his final start<br />

April 26 against Connecticut when he struck out a season high nine in 5.0 innings…went 4-0 with a<br />

save and a 2.03 ERA over his final 16 appearances…was credited with his first professional save July<br />

3 against New Britain when he tossed the final 2.1 innings (2 h, 1 bb, 2 so) of Reading’s 6-2 win…was<br />

traded to <strong>Oakland</strong> along with Adrian Cardenas and Matt Spencer July 17 and was assigned to Double-A<br />

Midland…went 1-0 with a 4.26 ERA in four starts for the RockHounds…was promoted to Sacramento<br />

Aug. 12 and went 1-0 with a 1.76 ERA in five games, two starts, with the River Cats.<br />

2007—Went a combined 12-7 with a 2.99 ERA in 27 games, 25 starts, for Single-A Clearwater and<br />

Double-A Reading…led all Phillies minor leaguers in strikeouts (151) and finished second in ERA…<br />

began his season with Clearwater and finished with the best ERA (2.45) in the Florida State League…<br />

named to the FSL Postseason All-Star Team…allowed one or zero earned runs in 11 of his 18 starts with<br />

Clearwater…pitched 6.0 no-hit innings July 7 against Ft. Myers and had a season-high 12 strikeouts July<br />

18 vs. St. Lucie…had a 1.72 ERA in his final six starts before being promoted to Reading July 24…held<br />

Double-A left-handed hitters to a .209 average…batted .364 (4 for 11) with two RBI…pitched for Peoria<br />

in Arizona Fall League following the season and was 0-1 with a 5.87 ERA in three starts…also pitched<br />

for the World Cup-winning Team USA, going 1-0 with a 1.50 ERA in two starts.<br />

2006—Spent the season with Single-A Lakewood and ranked second in the South Atlantic League in<br />

strikeouts (161), third in wins (14) and fourth in ERA (2.95)…was named Phillies Minor League Pitcher<br />

of the Week three times: June 12-18 (1-0, 0.00 ERA), July 31-Aug. 6 (2-0, 0.00 ERA) and Aug. 21-27<br />

(2-0, 0.75 ERA)…won Phillies Minor League Pitcher of the Month honors for August when he went<br />

5-0 with a 0.28 ERA…tossed his first career shutout, a one-hitter, Aug. 5 at Kannapolis (7.0 ip, 3 bb, 9<br />

so)…won six straight decisions from July 31 to Aug. 27 (0.23 ERA)…struck out 10 or more batters three<br />

times, including a season high 12 June 16 vs. Lake County…held opponents to a .213 average…rated<br />

the sixth best prospect in the Phillies minor league system by Baseball America following the season.<br />

2005—Made his professional debut at Batavia and was 2-1 with a 2.76 ERA in 11 games, four starts.<br />

Joshua S. Outman…he and his wife Ashley have a daughter, Sawyer Kathleen (12/22/2010)…is a 2002<br />

graduate of Lindbergh High School where he played baseball and ran cross country…attended Central<br />

Missouri State and majored in dietetics…was 10-2 as a junior and led the Mules to the NCAA Division<br />

II World Series.<br />
