74 on Baseball America’s Top 100 Prospects list and following the season he was listed as the A’s<br />

ninth best prospect…his batting average included a .311 mark against right-handed pitching and .268<br />

against left-handers…batted .308 with runners in scoring position, including .345 with Midland and .226<br />

with Sacramento…appeared in 73 games at second base, 38 at third base and 14 at shortstop…made 19<br />

errors, including nine at second base (.977 fielding percentage), five at third base (.946) and five at shortstop<br />

(.926)…batted .326 with 26 doubles, 55 RBI and 56 runs scored in 79 games with Midland…hit<br />

.383 with all three of his home runs and 38 of his 55 RBI at home…hit safely in 10 consecutive games<br />

from April 10 to 20…went 18 for 42 (.429) with seven doubles and eight RBI during the streak…had a<br />

season high five RBI April 29 against Corpus Christi and batted .372 with 10 doubles and 19 RBI in 19<br />

his first 22 games of his second stint, boosting his overall Double-A batting average to .382 following<br />

his four-hit game June 15…started at second base for the South All-Stars in the Texas League All-Star<br />

Game, July 1 at Frisco, and went 0 for 2…then hit safely in a season high 13 consecutive games from<br />

July 2 to 16 (22 for 53, .415)…was promoted to Sacramento Aug. 1 and finished the season with the<br />

River Cats…went 0 for 15 over his first four games, then batted .330 over his final 29 contests…including<br />

a 15 for 29 (.517) surge over a seven-game stretch from Aug. 14 to 20…then hit a team-leading .370<br />

with three doubles, three RBI and seven runs scored in seven postseason games for the River Cats.<br />

2008—Was acquired by <strong>Oakland</strong> from Philadelphia in the Joe Blanton trade in July and combined to hit<br />

.296 with five home runs and 40 RBI in 109 games with Single-A Clearwater in the Phillies organization<br />

and Single-A Stockton and Double-A Midland in the A’s organization…added six triples and was<br />

successful in 17 of 18 (94.4%) stolen base attempts…was named the A’s fifth best prospect by Baseball<br />

America following the season and was also tabbed as the A’s Best Hitter for Average in the magazine’s<br />

Best Tools survey…batted .296 against left-handed pitchers and .296 against right-handers…hit .303<br />

with runners in scoring position…batted .416 with three of his five home runs, 10 of his 40 RBI and six<br />

of his 17 stolen bases in the first inning of a game…committed five errors in 77 games at second base<br />

(.984 fielding percentage) and two in 29 contests at shortstop (.985 fielding percentage)…hit .307 with<br />

four home runs and 23 RBI in 68 games with Clearwater…was successful in all 16 of his stolen base<br />

attempts…all 65 of his defensive appearances came at second base…was batting .347 in 13 games when<br />

he was placed on the disabled list April 24 with a strained muscle in his back…was reinstated from the<br />

DL May 13…hit all four of his home runs with Dunedin over a 17-game span from May 13 to 30 and<br />

batted .323 in 18 games in May…then hit .291 with 11 stolen bases in 25 games in June…was traded<br />

to <strong>Oakland</strong> with Josh Outman and Matt Spencer July 17 in exchange for Joe Blanton…was assigned to<br />

Stockton following the trade and batted .278 with a home run and 10 RBI in 15 games…hit .333 over<br />

his first 11 games and then went 2 for 18 (.111) over his final four contests before he was promoted to<br />

Midland Aug. 5…batted .279 in 26 games with the RockHounds and added 15 walks for a .392 on-base<br />

percentage…hit .353 over his first 14 games but went 6 for 35 (.171) over his final 12 contests…all 26<br />

of his appearances came at shortstop…played for the Arizona Fall League Champion Phoenix Desert<br />

Dogs following the season and hit .239 with three doubles and nine RBI in 24 games…appeared in 12<br />

games at second base, 11 at shortstop and one at third base.<br />

2007—Spent entire season with Single-A Lakewood…led his team in at bats (499), doubles (30) and<br />

RBI (79), was second in hits (147) and tied for second in home runs (9)…had 40 multi-hit games…<br />

collected 24 RBI in 27 games in May…named a South Atlantic League midseason All-Star…named<br />

Phillies Minor League Player of the Week, May 28-June 3…was Phillies’ Minor League Player of the<br />

Month for June after batting .360 with 16 runs and 11 RBI…played for Team USA in the Futures Game<br />

in San Francisco and was 1 for 1…rated the second best prospect in the Phillies minor league system by<br />

Baseball America following the season.<br />

2006—Made his professional debut with the Gulf Coast Rookie League Phillies…ranked second in the<br />

GCL in average (.318), tied for fourth in triples (4) and fifth in on-base percentage (.384)…was named<br />

Phillies Minor League Player of the Week, July 24-30 after batting .650 with four RBI…had a seasonhigh<br />

five RBI July 17 at the Indians…had a season-best five hits July 24 vs. the Yankees…hit .368 with<br />
