2007 at Los Angeles…established a Red Sox outfielder<br />

the wall to catch Casey Blake’s fly ball for the final out of Game 7 of the ALCS, sending the Red<br />

Sox to the World Series…went 1 for 2 with a run scored in the World Series vs. Colorado, seeing action<br />

in 3 of the 4 games.<br />

2006—Played in just 105 games in his first season with Boston as he was bothered by a left index finger<br />

fracture suffered in the first week of the regular season…began the season as the Red Sox leadoff man<br />

and led the team in steals while tying for first in sacrifice bunts…suffered a broken finger in his fifth<br />

game of the same April 8 at Baltimore on a stolen base attempt of third…missed 41 games before being<br />

reinstated May 28…the finger continued to bother him the rest of the season and he underwent surgery<br />

on his finger Sept. 26 and missed the remainder of the season.<br />

2005—Established career highs in most offensive categories in his final year with Cleveland, including<br />

a .300 average, 42 doubles, 16 homers and 86 runs…led the American League with 13 sacrifice bunts<br />

and ranked among the league leaders in doubles (t-5th), bunts in play (t-3rd), hitting vs. right-handed<br />

pitchers (.324, 5th) and road average (.323, 5th)…had an inside-the-park home run July 4 vs. Detroit…<br />

was named American League Player of the Week for Sept. 6-12…hit .517 (15 for 29) with three home<br />

runs, seven RBI and eight runs scored during the week…was on the disabled list from May 18 to June<br />

1 with a sprained right thumb.<br />

2004—Made his first Opening Day roster with the Indians…turned it on after a slow start and ranked<br />

ninth in the American League with a .318 batting average after the All-Star Break…hit his first career<br />

grand slam July 27 vs. Detroit…drove in a career high 71 runs…posted hitting streaks of 14 (July 27-<br />

Aug. 13) and 12 (June 11-22) games.<br />

2003—Opened the season with Triple-A Buffalo and was leading the International League in hitting<br />

(.360), hits (81) and runs scored (42) when he was recalled to Cleveland June 10…spent the remainder<br />

of the season at the big league level…ranked among American League rookie leaders in triples (3rd),<br />

stolen bases (3rd), batting average (6th) and runs (7th)…put 37 bunts in play, third overall in the AL…<br />

hit .400 during a 13-game hitting streak from July 18 to 31 and batted .351 overall in 26 July games.<br />

2002—Had his contract selected from Double-A Akron Aug. 14 and made his Major League debut the<br />

next day…collected his first Major League hit Aug. 16 at Anaheim off John Lackey…was sent to Triple-<br />

A Buffalo Aug. 30 to play in the International League playoffs but returned to the Indians after seven<br />

games…hit his first Major League home run Sept. 11 vs. Toronto off Scott Wiggins…began the season<br />

in the Cardinals organization and hit .301 in 89 games with Double-A New Haven before being acquired<br />

as a player to be named by the Cleveland Indians on Aug. 5 to complete a July 19 trade for Chuck Finley…played<br />

for Aguilas in the Dominican Winter League following the season.<br />

2001—Earned St. Louis Cardinals Minor League Player of the Year honors and was a Carolina League<br />

All-Star after a stellar season with Single-A Potomac…led the Carolina League in hits (162), total bases<br />

(224), games played (139) and at bats (530), ranked second in runs scored (80) and stolen bases (39)<br />

and was third in batting (.306).<br />
