the Rainiers’ disabled list with a left shoulder strain Aug. 26 and was reinstated Sept. 17…at Triple-A,<br />

had 70 strikeouts in 52.0 innings (12.11 strikeouts per nine innings).<br />

2000—Remained at Double-A New Haven for the second straight year…led Eastern League starters<br />

with 9.80 strikeouts per nine innings…was second in the league with 152 strikeouts…also tied for<br />

third in losses (12) and tied for fifth in walks (70)…tossed a two-hitter Aug. 3 at Akron, his lone career<br />

complete game…helped the Ravens win the Eastern League title, going 2-0 with a 2.45 ERA in a pair of<br />

postseason starts (11.0 ip, 8 h, 3 r, 3 er, 4 bb, 17 so).<br />

1999—Spent the entire season with New Haven…recorded a season-high 10 strikeouts April 21 at<br />

Trenton (6.0 ip)…won back-to-back starts, April 21 at Trenton and April 27 at New Britain…was on the<br />

disabled list, June 9-Aug. 21…his only relief appearance was his first outing off the DL.<br />

1998—Began the year on the disabled list (April 2-20) with left shoulder tendinitis…rebounded to start<br />

22 games for Single-A Lancaster with two relief appearances…finished second in the California League<br />

in walks (81) and third in strikeouts per nine innings among starters (10.56)…had 12 strikeouts in three<br />

separate starts, May 16 vs. High Desert, July 7 vs. Visalia and Aug. 19 vs. San Bernardino.<br />

1997—Started 22 games with Wisconsin…had 153 strikeouts in 118.2 innings…beat Quad City 1-0<br />

July 28, posting 12 strikeouts in 8.0 innings…retired the first 12 batters and had faced the minimum 20<br />

hitters before allowing a single with two outs in the seventh inning…it was the only hit he yielded.<br />

1996—Spent his first professional season with Everett…recorded 26 strikeouts in 26.2 innings pitched.<br />

Brian Christopher Fuentes was originally signed by Mariners’ scout Rodney Davis…graduated from<br />

Merced Junior College in 1996 where he was a two-time all-league performer…played for the United<br />

States in the inaugural World Baseball Classic in 2006…was given the nickname “Tito” by his high<br />

school baseball coach…married, Barbara…has four children: Giovanni, Benicio & Gabriella (twins),<br />

and Farrah.<br />
