in the A’s 4-3 win…had a career-high five RBI May 4 against Texas when he hit his only home run of<br />

the season…that snapped a 51-game homerless streak dating back to his last home run Aug. 27, 2009<br />

at Los Angeles…at the time, it was the longest homerless streak of his career but he finished the season<br />

with a 54-game streak…has hit just one home run over his last 108 games…reached base safely in 37<br />

consecutive home games from Aug. 14, 2009 to May 4, 2010…that tied for the second longest such<br />

streak in <strong>Oakland</strong> history…matched his career-high with four hits May 18 against Seattle…finished<br />

May with a .316 batting average, his best mark in 2010…had back-to-back three-hit games June 7-8<br />

against Los Angeles to lift his batting average to a season-high .324…then went 6-for-42 (.143) over<br />

his next 13 games through June 22…had his second four-hit game of the season and fifth of his career<br />

July 1 at Baltimore to inch his average back over .300 (.303)…then went 6-for-29 (.207) over his final<br />

eight games…was placed on the 15-day disabled list, July 19 retroactive to July 12, with right patella<br />

tendinitis and was transferred to the 60-day DL July 30 when he underwent season-ending surgery…it<br />

was his fourth career stint on the DL.<br />

CAREER<br />

2009—The 24-year old outfielder batted a team-leading .293 with 53 RBI in 134 games in his second<br />

full season…the batting average is fifth best in <strong>Oakland</strong> history by a player younger than 25 years of<br />

age…finished second on the club with 31 doubles but had just six home runs…averaged 80.67 at-bats<br />

per home run, which ranked fourth highest in the American League…hit .326 with 23 of his 31 doubles<br />

on the road…had the sixth best road batting average in the AL and tied for fifth in doubles…also hit four<br />

of his six home runs on the road and slugged .469 in away games, compared to .336 in <strong>Oakland</strong>…batted<br />

.319 with 20 doubles after the All-Star Break…had the 10 th best batting average in the AL after the break<br />

and tied for eighth in doubles…hit .301 with five of his six home runs and 46 of his 53 RBI against righthanded<br />

pitching…his home run June 29 off Detroit’s Fu-Te Ni is the only one of his 13 career home runs<br />

off a southpaw…batted .314 in the seventh inning and later…hit .325 in interleague play…batted .314<br />

when leading off an inning…his average slipped to .258 with runners in scoring position, including .220<br />

with RISP and two outs…started a team-leading 63 games in right field but also made 53 starts in center<br />

field and five in left field for a team-leading 121 starts in the outfield overall…had 11 assists, which<br />

tied for fourth among AL outfielders…the breakdown included five assists in right field, four in center<br />

field and two in left field…hit .341 in 85 games overall while playing right field and .246 in 57 games<br />

in center field…started games at every spot in the order except second, fourth and ninth…compiled a<br />

season-best 12-game hitting streak from April 18 to May 3 (17 for 56, .304)…was batting .246 in 49<br />

games when he was placed on the 15-day disabled list June 8, retroactive to June 3, with a sprained left<br />

knee…was reinstated June 18 and hit .324 in 85 games following his return…had the seventh-best batting<br />

average in the AL from June 18 through the end of the season…homered June 29 against Detroit to<br />

snap a 32-game homerless streak and then went another 31 games before his next home run, giving him<br />

one home run over a 64-game span from May 9 to Aug. 6…walked July 24 at New York to snap a 27game<br />

streak without a walk…that was the longest such streak by an Athletic since Miguel Tejada had a<br />

29-game streak from May 29 to June 29, 2001…however, batted .311 during the streak…homered twice<br />

in a three-game series at Kansas City, Aug. 7 to 9, to start a season-ending stretch where he collected 21<br />

extra base hits (16 doubles, two triples, three home runs) over his final 44 games…had just 11 extra base<br />

hits over his previous 64 contests…reached base safely via hit or walk in an A’s season-high 23 consecutive<br />

games from Aug. 30 to Sept. 26…hit .367 (33 for 90) with 10 doubles and 10 walks (.427 on-base<br />

percentage) during the streak…matched his career-high with four hits Sept. 8 at Chicago (third time)…<br />

tied an <strong>Oakland</strong> record with three doubles Sept. 14 at Texas…hit .360 with 19 runs scored, 10 doubles<br />

and 16 RBI in 22 games in September…tied for second in the AL in doubles in September and ranked<br />

sixth in batting…his batting average was the highest one-month batting average of his career.<br />

2008—Batted .286 with five home runs and 45 RBI in 115 games in a season interrupted by two stints<br />

on the disabled list…ranked third among American League rookies in on-base percentage (.350), tied<br />

for fourth in multiple hit games (31) and fifth in batting and stolen bases (9)…his stolen bases were the<br />

most by an A’s rookie since 1997 when Jason McDonald had 13 and Scott Spiezio had nine…had just<br />

one caught stealing and was successful in 90.0% of his attempts…missed 13 games while he was on the<br />

DL from May 29 to June 12 with a left toe contusion and 15 games during a DL stint from Aug. 13 to<br />

27 with a sprained right thumb…also missed three games from June 27 to 29 with a sprained left ankle<br />

and three games from July 11 to 13 with a dislocated left pinkie…batted .307 with all five of his home<br />

runs against right-handed pitching…hit four of his five home runs on the road, four at night and four<br />

with the bases empty…batted .330 with runners in scoring position…started a team leading 102 games<br />
