Was originally drafted by the A’s in the 17th round of the 2000 draft and<br />

compiled a 36-19 record and a 3.42 ERA in 97 games, 89 starts, over<br />

six seasons with <strong>Oakland</strong> from 2003-08…was traded to Chicago July<br />

8, 2008 and went 14-10 with a 3.31 ERA in 38 games, all starts, over<br />

one and one-half seasons with the Cubs before signing with Texas as a<br />

free agent following the 2009 season…went 5-5 with a 5.58 ERA in 20<br />

games, 18 starts, with the Rangers in 2010…has 858 career strikeouts in<br />

845.2 innings and his ratio of 9.13 strikeouts per nine innings is second<br />

Was 5-5 with a 5.58 ERA in 20 games, 18 starts in a season where he was bothered by injuries and<br />

control problems much of the season, which resulted in two stints on the disabled list…the ERA was<br />

the highest of his major league career…issued 62 walks in 92.0 innings, an average of 6.07 per nine<br />

innings…that was the highest ratio in the majors among pitchers with 90 or more innings pitched…it<br />

was also sixth highest in team history and the highest since 1987 (Bobby Witt, 8.81; Mitch Williams,<br />

7.79)…walked five or more batters in six of his 18 starts, including a season high six April 18 at New<br />

York and May 14 at Toronto…tied for 10th in the American League in hit batters (9)…tied for fourth on<br />

the club in strikeouts (75), was fifth in starts and pitched the sixth most innings (92.0)…was also second<br />

on the team in hit batters and third in walks…allowed a .256 opponents batting average, including .238<br />

(40-for-168) against right-handed hitters and .273 (51-for-187) against left-handers…yielded a .228<br />

opponents batting average the first time through the lineup, .220 the second time and .372 after that…<br />

his career numbers are .197 (237 for 1205), .223 (245 for 1100) and .266 (212 for 797)…posted a 4.40<br />

against the White Sox…worked 7.0 shutout innings and struck out a season-high nine to win at <strong>Oakland</strong><br />

in next start May 3…went 2-0 with a 2.50 ERA over a three-start stretch from April 28 to May 8…<br />

then went 1-2 with an 8.28 ERA over his next six starts before going on the disabled list June 12 with a<br />

left gluteal muscle strain…surrendered a career high four home runs in his final start before the injury,<br />

June 11 at Milwaukee…went 0-2 with a 5.19 ERA in four starts at Triple-A Oklahoma City on a rehab<br />

assignment…was reinstated July 31 and allowed one earned run in 7.0 innings in a win at Los Angeles<br />
