does that mean? We’ve committed tons <strong>of</strong><br />

changes since then into the repository....<br />

By default, your version control s<strong>of</strong>tware<br />

gives you code from the trunk.<br />

You’re right. When you check out the code from your version control<br />

system, you’re checking it out from the trunk. That’s the latest code<br />

by default and (assuming people are committing their changes on a<br />

regular basis) has all <strong>of</strong> the latest bugs features.<br />

Version control s<strong>of</strong>tware stores ALL your code.<br />

Every time you commit code into your version control system, a<br />

revision number was attached to the s<strong>of</strong>tware at that point. So, if<br />

you can figure out which revision <strong>of</strong> your s<strong>of</strong>tware was released as<br />

Version 1.0, you’re good to go.<br />

Here’s the revision<br />

number for this set <strong>of</strong><br />

changes; it increases<br />

with each commit.<br />

Remember the trunk<br />

thing that keeps coming<br />

up? That’s the place<br />

where all the latest and<br />

greatest code is stored.<br />

But we do have the 1.0 code somewhere,<br />

even if it’s not labeled, right? We just have<br />

to find it on our server somehow...<br />
