End-users highlighted the current, relatively ineffective, pipe route survey practice where
areas are swamped with geotechnical sampling. This could potentially reduced by more
reliance on geophysical data and particularly where features can be accurately positioned and
there is reliable sediment classification. However, the general consensus was that the VHR3D
would have to be cost-effective and proven.
Most interest in the system came from the academic/research based institutes who have lots of
ideas for potential applications.
Where the 3D project is of interest also is the geophyscal/geotechnical integration and
extraction of geotechnical properties.
