Audit Trails and Persistence
Audit trails are stored in the database with the process instance state (when using
persistent process mode). The following modes of operation are typical:
● Persistent process mode with audit trails enabled — This is the standard
configuration. All current and historical process state is saved.
● Non-persistent process mode with audit trails not enabled — No process state is
saved. Process instances do not survive a container restart and support only limited
management capabilities. This mode is useful for short-duration processes where
performance is more important than recoverability.
● Persistent process mode with audit trails not enabled — Only the current process state
is saved. This mode is useful to limit database growth, particularly with processes that
might generate very long histories. Note that without audit trails the management
capabilities are limited.
