Basket food regulations in Venezuela<br />

The basket food regulations are an instrument that is used to plan the social and<br />

economic policies in the area of food security in this country. The objective of this<br />

article is made a comparative analysis of results for different baskets food regulations<br />

that are made by National Institute of Statistics in Venezuela in the years<br />

1997 and 2002. These comparative analyses of results are made emphasizing<br />

the support instruments that are used to develop each basket food regulations. It<br />

is concluded that today is still using the basket food regulations of 1997 and it is<br />

15 years of effective. It is necessary to update these basket food regulations<br />

because there are lot of sources and recent studies that support this update. In a<br />

point, it is important to develop information campaigns of health because it could<br />

promote healthy eating habits.<br />

E<strong>vol</strong>ution of research networks in the Latin American academic context:<br />

Comparative analysis of the impact of Colombia and Venezuela<br />

research schemes<br />

This study was realized with the aim of analyzing the e<strong>vol</strong>ution of the research<br />

university networks in Latin America, subsequently comparing the impacts of<br />

scientific work schemes of two of their countries, Colombia and Venezuela, in<br />

order to assess some of the potential effects of implementing (or not implementing)<br />

strategies for the development of these networks in both nations. From the<br />

findings it is concluded that the research seedbeds of Colombia seem to be generating<br />

a positive impact on aspects such as the scientific productivity, while the<br />

trends observed in Venezuela could be linked to a poor collaborative research<br />

culture in its universities.<br />
