If a student is guilty <strong>of</strong> plagiarism or academic dishonesty for a<br />
second time, the student will receive a grade <strong>of</strong> zero on the<br />
assignment and s/he will receive a three-day, out-<strong>of</strong>-school<br />
suspension that will be reflected on <strong>of</strong>ficial school records; the<br />
student also may be subject to other disciplinary action as<br />
determined by the school administration.<br />
If a student is guilty <strong>of</strong> plagiarism or academic dishonesty for a third<br />
time, s/he will be expelled from <strong>YES</strong> <strong>Prep</strong> <strong>Public</strong> <strong>Schools</strong>.<br />
The above policy is cumulative throughout a student’s high school career at <strong>YES</strong> <strong>Prep</strong> <strong>Public</strong> <strong>Schools</strong>.<br />
School administrators reserve the right to take all necessary steps to investigate alleged academic honor code<br />
violations; including but not limited to requiring a student to retake an exam or quiz or rewriting portions <strong>of</strong> a<br />
paper. Depending on the seriousness <strong>of</strong> the incident, <strong>YES</strong> <strong>Prep</strong> <strong>Public</strong> <strong>Schools</strong> reserves the right to expel the<br />
student from the school.<br />
<strong>YES</strong> <strong>Prep</strong> reserves the right to suspend or expel a student from the school if the student violates the Honor<br />
Code.<br />
Forgery<br />
Forging the signature <strong>of</strong> a parent/guardian, teacher, or another student on any letter to the school or any<br />
school document is in violation <strong>of</strong> the Honor Code and will result in disciplinary action.<br />
<strong>YES</strong> <strong>Prep</strong> Standards <strong>of</strong> Conduct and Behavior<br />
The following behaviors are considered serious infractions and may be subject to immediate suspension<br />
and/or expulsion. This section includes behaviors whether they are on campus, at a school event, or on a<br />
school bus. Additionally, any disciplinary action taken may be reported to other schools, including colleges.<br />
1. Commission <strong>of</strong> a felony;<br />
2. Extortion, intimidation, or disrespect <strong>of</strong> another student or staff member;<br />
3. Engaging in inappropriate physical or sexual conduct;<br />
4. Engaging in conduct that constitutes sexual harassment, including but not limited to verbal or<br />
physical conduct <strong>of</strong> a sexual nature;<br />
5. Assault <strong>of</strong>, or threats to, another person, including any physical, verbal, emotional and written forms;<br />
6. Possession or sale <strong>of</strong> stolen property;<br />
7. Possession or use <strong>of</strong> matches or a lighter, except as part <strong>of</strong> an instructional program;<br />
8. Starting or building a fire on school grounds or at a school-sponsored event, except as part <strong>of</strong> an<br />
instructional program;<br />
9. Possessing, distributing, selling, using, or smoking tobacco products;<br />
10. Possessing, distributing, selling, or using medications that are available with or without a prescription<br />
in a manner that is not consistent with the medicine's intended use as indicated on the<br />
manufacturer's label, or with school rules concerning the handling <strong>of</strong> such medications;<br />
11. Possessing or selling items attempted to be passed <strong>of</strong>f as drugs or contraband;<br />
12. Possessing drug paraphernalia;<br />
13. Possessing, distributing, or printing pornographic material;<br />
