Below are some scenarios that could result in Wall Street. Note that this is not an exhaustive list but are examples:
Student’s paper is torn or crumpled
Student completes nine out of ten problems on his math homework
Student doesn’t follow directions and does the homework incorrectly
Student can’t locate homework when homework is being checked
Parent brings homework to student after the school day has begun
Student fails to get a parent signature on a form that was sent home
Student arrives to school after 8:00 AM without valid excuse
MIDDLE SCHOOL PLAGIARISM / CHEATING CONSEQUENCES
Students who plagiarize papers or projects or are involved in any other form of cheating will be placed on RISE. Their
parent will be notified, and a meeting will be scheduled to discuss the student’s action and the resulting consequence of
RISE.
Depending on the seriousness of the cheating incident, YES Prep Public Schools reserves the right to expel the student
from the school upon the occurrence of any incident of cheating.
School administrators reserve the right to take all necessary steps to investigate alleged academic honor code violations;
including but not limited to requiring a student to retake an exam or quiz or rewriting portions of a paper. The school
administrator will make the final decision on all issues related to the honor code.
ATTENDANCE
The academic day at YES Prep begins at 7:45 a.m. for every day and concludes at 4:30 p.m. (Monday, Tuesday, Thursday
and Friday); and at 1:25 p.m. on Wednesday. Students involved in athletics and other after school activities may need to
stay later than the times outlined above in order to participate in practices, performances and/or games. The official
ADA time is 9:15 a.m., and attendance is taken at this time. Any student who arrives after this time will be marked
absent for the attendance reported to the state.
Students are not allowed to stay after school unless they have teacher approval or are staying for a school-sponsored
activity. All students must be off campus by 5:00 pm unless prior permission to remain on campus after this time has
been granted by a YES Prep Public Schools staff member who will remain with the student until they are picked up.
Parents are given a 30-minute grace period to pick up their student. The thirty minutes begins from the moment the last
activity or dismissal point occurs for that student. The school will document whenever parents pick their children up
after the 30-minute grace period. At first, the school will intervene by giving a warning, making a parent phone call, or
setting up a parent conference. If the late pickups persist, the school may institute the following consequences or
interventions: detention, loss of field trip/spring trip privileges, RISE, suspension (ISS/OSS), cab ride home, and/or
contacting CPS.
Scheduling Routine Appointments
Students are dismissed at 1:25 p.m. on Wednesdays. This scheduling allows families the flexibility to schedule routine
appointments for students so that they will not miss class. Missing class adversely impacts a student’s academic growth.
Please schedule all non-urgent appointments for Wednesday afternoons.
Tardy to School
1) Students who are not in their homeroom/houses or morning meeting location by 7:45 AM will be considered
tardy. We encourage students to be dropped off no later than 7:40 AM so they have time to reach their
destinations by 7:45 AM. The only excuse accepted for tardiness to school is a late school bus arrival. All tardies
