BRAYS OAKS HANDBOOK APPENDIX – OPERATIONS INFORMATION
SCHOOL MEALS AND PAYMENT
At the beginning of every school year, the federal application for free and reduced lunch form is given to every student.
If you do not see the form, it is your responsibility to ask the school for the form. The form will be processed within 10
business days, and by 15 business days, you will receive a letter in the mail stating your status as a free, reduced, or full
pay household. If you do not receive the letter in 15 days, it is your responsibility to inquire about the status of the
application as your student may not have turned in the form.
School meals cost $1.50 for breakfast and $3.00 for lunch for full pay status and $0.25 for breakfast and $0.40 for lunch
for students who are reduced. Families are encouraged to pre-pay for the meals on a biweekly or monthly basis with a
check made out to YES Prep Brays Oaks for the convenience of not needed to give your student money every day.
Lunch balance reminders will be sent home with students during reporting periods (Progress Reports and/or Report
Cards). If you receive one of these reminders, your child may be held from field lessons and fall/spring trips if these fees
are not paid.
PAYING BALANCES
Any balances owed to the school must be paid in a timely manner. Students with a balance will not be able to attend
field trips until the balance is paid or a payment plan is established. Parents of students owing balances will need to pick
up his/her student’s report card from school at the end of every year. If you have concerns about balances, please
contact the front office or the school’s operations manager.
TRAFFIC POLICY
Maintaining orderly traffic patterns ensures that all students get to school safely and on time and minimizes parental
time spent waiting. The following rules are in effect from 7:15 AM until 8:00 AM and 3:45 PM until 6:00 PM (on early
release days, the policy is in effect from 1:00 PM until 3:00 PM). Do not make a left turn in the median on West Brae
right in front of the school entrance during these hours.
1) ALWAYS enter through the West Brae entrance. The gate on W Bellfort is never to be used as an
entrance way and is for exit only.
2) Do NOT enter through the back school gate (bus entrance) under any circumstances. The back gate is for
bus entrance and vehicle exiting only.
3) Do NOT drop off or pick up students on West Brae on the far side of the school property. This is
dangerous for your student, and it makes students behind you late because you are blocking the
entrance to the school. Alternatives if you are running late include dropping or picking up on the near
side of West Brae and allowing students to walk the sidewalk.
4) Form 1 lane as you enter the parking lot and do not allow your student out of, or into, your vehicle until
you are in front of the building. This allows more cars to enter the parking lot and traffic to flow and
clear traffic.
5) Exit through the W Bellfort gate or by making a right and exiting through the gate at the back of the
school.
The traffic policy is crucial to helping students start and end their day on the best note. It ensures student safety and
minimizes wait time for all motorists.
