INTERVIEW Voary Velonjara Comédienne / Actress « Zanaka Adala » ou « l’enfant déchu » plus qu’une comédie musicale Après un doctorat en médecine, Voary a choisi un tout autre chemin. Passionnée par le théâtre depuis l’enfance, c’est en 2013 qu’elle décide de créer le projet « zanaka adala » ou « l’enfant déchu », un passage de la bible qu’elle transforme en comédie musicale. C’est une association qui aide les jeunes à lutter contre l’addiction aux drogues. "Zanaka Adala" or "The Fallen Child" – more than a musical After a doctorate in medicine, Voary chose a completely different path. Passionate about theatre since childhood, in 2013 she decided to create the project "Zanaka Adala" or "The Fallen Child", a passage from the bible that she transformed into a musical. It is an association that helps young people fight against drug addiction. Prime Media : D’où tiens-tu cette idée de créer un projet de comédie musicale ? Voary Velonjara : A 15 ans, au vu du succès de la comédie musicale Les 10 commandements, j’ai eu envie d’en créer une à Madagascar. Je voulais juste que l’art soit un moyen pour les jeunes et pour moi de nous exprimer. Mais « zanaka adala » est plus qu’une comédie musicale. C’est une association qui aide les jeunes à lutter contre l’addiction aux drogues. Prime Media : Where do you get this idea to create a musical project? Voary Velonjara : At 15, witnessing the success of the musical The 10 Commandments, I wanted to create one in Madagascar too. I just wanted art to be a way for young people and for me to express ourselves. But "zanaka adala" is more than a musical. It is an association that helps young people fight against drug addiction. Prime Media : Comment associer lutte contre la drogue et comédie musicale ? Voary Velonjara : En s’inspirant des histoires personnelles des jeunes que nous accueillons. La plupart sont sans ressources, leurs parents sont absents ou se sont réfugiés dans la drogue. Mais cette histoire d’enfant déchu est replacée dans notre époque et les musiques plus tendance, le hip hop, le rock et de la musique traditionnelle malgache y jouent un rôle important. Prime Media : How to associate fight against drugs and musical? Voary Velonjara : Inspired by the personal stories of the young people we welcome. Most are without resources, their parents are absent or have taken refuge in drugs. But this story of fallen child is replaced in our time and more trendy music, hip hop, rock and traditional Malagasy music play an important role. Prime Media : Et après l’association que deviennent ces jeunes ? Voary Velonjara : Après l’association, ils sont plus indépendants et responsables car le théâtre les aide dans leur développement personnel. Il y a des préceptes qui marquent : « Soyez quelqu’un et soyez quelqu’un jusqu’à la fin de votre vie, ne vous laissez pas influencer par les autres, même si la pauvreté vous touche, il y a toujours quelques choses à faire ». Prime : And after the association what have these young people become? Voary Velonjara : After the association, they are more independent and responsible because the theater helps them in their personal development.
