mechanical protection and bacterial staticity. On the other hand, these fabrics may also be responsible for,
of even aggravating or other skin diseases, thus a proper knowledge of new frontiers in the textile industry
becomes necessary for a correct diagnosis and treatment of related dermatoses.

La cosmesi, negli ultimi anni, ha conosciuto una serie di radicali trasformazioni ed evoluzioni, legate sia al continuo
progredire delle conoscenze in campo tecnico scientifico, sia al crescente impatto economico da essa
esercitata. Di conseguenza è profondamente cambiato il ruolo attribuito e attribuibile al prodotto cosmetico: da
semplice strumento finalizzato alla decorazione, detersione e al mascheramento degli odori corporei, si è arricchita
di nuove e più mirate caratteristiche e specificità d’impiego. La direttiva europea 93/35/CEE e le sue successive
modifiche, introduce e stabilisce criteri e regole generali, finalizzate a garantire la sicurezza e l’efficacia
dei prodotti cosmetici immessi sul mercato: è compito delle aziende produttrici dimostrare gli effetti vantati e le
funzioni riportate in etichetta, nonché, quello di verificare la reale innocuità del prodotto nelle normali condizioni
d’impiego previste. Attualmente la norma non prevede vincoli particolari nella scelta del numero e del tipo di
metodiche utilizzate per valutarne efficacia e sicurezza, stabilendo comunque il divieto, entro dei tempi stabiliti,
di sperimentare su animali gli ingredienti e le combinazioni di ingredienti impiegati nei prodotti cosmetici. Nella
moderna scienza dermotossicologica i test in vitro rappresentano, pertanto un punto di riferimento importante e
attualmente in continuo divenire: sono infatti disponibili o in fase di definizione nuove metodiche sempre più specifiche,
mirate e caratterizzate da un elevato grado di attendibilità. I modelli in vitro offrono notevoli vantaggi
rispetto ai test effettuati nell’animale: consentono un’elevata numerosità del campione e quindi una maggiore
rappresentatività dei dati; consentono una maggiore riproducibilità grazie alla standardizzazione delle condizioni
sperimentali; i dati ricavati sono oggettivi e quantificabili; sono test eticamente corretti.
In vitro tests in the evaluation of cosmetic products
Cosmetics, in recent years have undergone several radical changes and developments related to both the continuous
progress and knowledge in technical and scientific fields, and the growing economic impact exerted.
Therefore changed is the attributed concept of the cosmetic product: i.e. from the simple role to decorate, clean
and conceal body odor, it was enriched with new and more targeted and specific characteristics of use. The
European Directive 93/35/EEC and its subsequent amendments, introduces and establishes criteria and general
rules, to ensure the safety and effectiveness of cosmetic products placed on the market: it is the manufacturer task
to prove the claimed effects and the functions listed on the label, and to verify the safety of the product under normal
conditions of use. Currently the standard does not provide constraints in the choice of number and type of
methods used to evaluate the efficacy and safety, however banning within a specified time, the experiment on animals
of ingredients or combinations of the same employed in cosmetic products. In modern dermo-toxicology in
vitro tests do represent a relevant reference point in continuous expansion: already available or under definition
are new more specific methods, targeted and characterized with a high degree of reliability. In vitro models offer
significant advantages compared to tests in animals: they allow the analysis of a high number of samples with a
consequent greater representation of data, thus allowing a greater reproducibility through standardization of
experimental conditions, the data obtained are objective and quantifiable, and they are ethically correct tests.

La recente applicazione del D. Lgs. 81/2008 - Testo Unico sulla sicurezza nei luoghi di lavoro, pone l'attenzione
alla esposizione degli operatori ai campi elettromagnetici da 0 Hz a 300 GHz. In tale banda di frequenze si collocano
numerose apparecchiature medicali che utilizzano radiofrequenze. Nel corso della presentazione verranno
illustrate le problematiche di sicurezza per gli operatori derivanti dall'utilizzo di elettrobisturi e ablatori a radiforequenza
di largo impiego in campo medico.
