Microrelief surface evaluation
Although this evaluation, performed
at T8, did not show a statistical significant variation
of cutaneous surface microrelief regularity,
a tendencial regularizing activity of the treatment
on skin microrelief (+5%) was found.
Self-evaluation questionnaire
The overall activity of the treatment
on striae was self perceived by the participating
subjects in 72% of cases.
C onclusions
It is common clinical experience that
topical treatment of stretchmarks is hardly successful
especially for old lesions, which can be
considered as scars caused by distension and
rupture of dermal fibres. On the contrary, striae
of recent onset may undergo spontaneous resolution.
The combined treatment under study
was able to provide a stimulus to fibroblasts in
the dermis as well as an improved epidermal
turnover. Instrumental measurements of striae
deepness and skin elasticity, clinical evaluations
and self evaluation questionnaire provided statistically
significant results, especially for striae
dating more than two years.
