Introduzione<br />
METODO DI COULOMB E DI RANKINE<br />
La determinazione del<strong>la</strong> spinta esercitata dal terreno contro un’opera <strong>di</strong><br />
sostegno è un problema c<strong>la</strong>ssico <strong>di</strong> ingegneria geotecnica che viene<br />
affrontato utilizzando due teorie “storiche”:<br />
‣ <strong>la</strong> <strong>teoria</strong> <strong>di</strong> <strong>Rankine</strong> (1857)<br />
‣ <strong>la</strong> <strong>teoria</strong> <strong>di</strong> Coulomb (1776).<br />
Entrambi i meto<strong>di</strong> assumono superfici <strong>di</strong> scorrimento piane, ma per effetto<br />
dell’attrito fra <strong>la</strong> parete e il terreno:<br />
• le reali superfici <strong>di</strong> scorrimento sono in parte curvilinee<br />
• i risultati che si ottengono applicando i meto<strong>di</strong> c<strong>la</strong>ssici sono spesso non<br />
caute<strong>la</strong>tivi.<br />
È pertanto opportuno riferirsi al metodo <strong>di</strong> Caquot e Kérisel (1948) che è il<br />
più noto e applicato metodo fra quelli che assumono superfici <strong>di</strong><br />
scorrimento curvilinee<br />
